Mahle took the loss in Game 4 of the NLDS against the Dodgers on Wednesday, giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits with four strikeouts and a walk over 6.1 innings.
Los Angeles scored its first run during the second inning on a dropped pop fly, but Mahle otherwise shut down a high-powered offense until the seventh. The right-hander allowed just two earned runs across 13.1 frames in his two playoff appearances, continuing a strong second half that saw him post a 1.99 ERA in nine regular-season starts after being acquired by Atlanta at the trade deadline. That surge will benefit Mahle immensely when he hits free agency during the offseason.

Mahle revealed Tuesday that the abdominal pull he suffered prior to his Game 2 against the Phillies in the NL Wild Card Series is no longer an issue, Grant McAuley of the Marietta Daily Journal reports.
Mahle felt a tug in his abdominal area while warming up in the bullpen before the game. However, the hurler said he didn't feel soreness during the outing when he tossed seven innings of one-run ball, nor did he feel anything during a recent bullpen session. Mahle is scheduled to start Game 4 of the NLDS versus the Dodgers on Wednesday.

Atlanta manager Walt Weiss said after Game 2 of the NL Wild Card Series against the Phillies on Wednesday that Mahle suffered an abdominal injury while warming up and nearly didn't start as scheduled, Grant McAuley of the Marietta Daily Journal reports. The right-hander didn't factor in the decision, giving up one run on six hits with six strikeouts and one walk across seven innings.
Mahle fully downplayed the injury, but it makes the playoff performance even more impressive as he tied a season best for innings pitched. It continues a strong run of form for the 32-year-old, who posted a 1.99 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 48:9 K:BB in 54.1 frames across nine regular-season starts after being acquired from the Giants at the trade deadline. Should Atlanta advance to the NLDS, Mahle tentatively lines up to take the mound in Game 3 against the Dodgers next week.

Mahle took a no-decision Thursday against the Reds, striking out four while allowing five runs on six hits and two walks in five innings.
Mahle had trouble with hard contact, giving up three extra-base hits (two home runs). It was a big letdown by the right-hander, who entered Thursday on a streak of eight consecutive starts with two runs or fewer allowed since joining Atlanta. He's still expected to be a key part of the rotation this postseason after posting a superb 1.99 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 48:9 K:BB over 54.1 innings for his new team.

Mahle (7-10) earned the win Friday against the Astros after allowing one run on three hits and a walk while striking out six over six innings.
Mahle continued his impressive run since joining Atlanta, limiting Houston's only damage against him to Isaac Paredes' RBI single in the fourth inning. Mahle threw 64 of 98 pitches for strikes and departed with a 2-1 advantage before Atlanta pulled away late. He has allowed one earned run or zero in seven of his eight starts with Atlanta, posting a 1.28 ERA and 0.89 WHIP over 49.1 innings since he was acquired from San Francisco before the trade deadline. He's expected to make his next start against the Reds on Thursday.
