Madden tossed three scoreless and hitless innings of relief in Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Pirates. He struck out three and walked none.
The Tigers only got 1.1 innings out of starter River Ryan in the regular-season finale Sunday, so they needed some length from Madden and two other relievers. The righty bounced back from allowing two runs in his previous appearance to wrap up his 2026 campaign on a high note. Madden finishes the year with a 3.26 ERA and 46 strikeouts across 47 innings, and he figures to be in the mix for a bullpen spot with the Tigers once again in 2027.

The Tigers recalled Madden from Triple-A Toledo on Thursday.
With Kyle Finnegan (groin) moving to the injured list, the Tigers will turn to Madden to replenish their bullpen depth. The 26-year-old has actually been more effective with the big club this season (3.46 ERA, 1.08 WHIP) than he has been in the minors (4.44 ERA, 1.53 WHIP), though he isn't likely to receive many high-leverage opportunities down the stretch.

The Tigers optioned Madden to Triple-A Toledo on Monday, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.
Madden boasts a 3.46 ERA and 40:13 K:BB over 39 innings, but he had been scored upon in five consecutive outings. His spot on the roster and in the bullpen will be absorbed by Tyler Kinley, who was signed by the Tigers on Monday.

Madden allowed three runs on three hits and a walk across 1.2 innings of relief in Sunday's 11-7 loss to the Royals. He struck out three.
Madden did a good job of missing bats Sunday but otherwise had a rough outing, which continued a poor recent stretch of games. The righty has been scored on in five straight appearances, and he has a 9.00 ERA during the stretch. Overall, Madden has been better with a 3.46 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 40 strikeouts across 39 innings this season. He remains a trusted middle reliever with limited fantasy upside.

Madden (1-0) earned the win in Friday's 13-1 victory against the Athletics. He allowed two hits and two walks while striking out two over three scoreless innings.
The Tigers scratched Casey Mize from Friday's start with the trade deadline looming and instead went with a bullpen game. Tyler Holton served as the opener, and Madden followed with three scoreless frames of bulk relief. The right-hander rejoined the Tigers on July 21 after spending just over a month at Triple-A Toledo, and he's pitched well since returning to the majors with a 0.90 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 10:7 K:BB across 10 innings (four appearances).

The Tigers recalled Madden from Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday.
With Jack Flaherty landing on the injured list with right flexor inflammation, Madden will join the Tigers' bullpen to give the team another multi-inning relief option. The 26-year-old righty owns a 4.71 ERA in 42 innings at Toledo but has been far more successful in the majors, posting a 3.15 ERA and 1.05 WHIP alongside a 23:5 K:BB across 20 innings.
