  • Yesavage (5-6) took the loss Saturday as the Blue Jays fell 5-1 to the Reds, allowing one run on two hits and one walk over two innings. He struck out three.

The 23-year-old right-hander was able to make two abbreviated starts in the final week of the season after returning from minor knee surgery, with Yesavage getting limited to just 30 pitches (19 strikes) Saturday. He pitched well in his two frames, but a solo shot by JJ Bleday in the second inning put Cincinnati in the lead for good. Yesavage ended his first full season in the majors having thrown 97.2 innings over 20 starts while producing a 3.69 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 97:47 K:BB, giving him a baseline to build from in 2027.

  • Yesavage did not factor into the decision Monday, allowing one run on a hit and no walks over two innings against the Orioles. He struck out three.

In his first outing since Aug. 4 after recovering from surgery to repair a torn meniscus, Yesavage's only blemish across two frames (40 pitches) was a solo homer to Pete Alonso in the first inning. A limited workload wasn't surprising for the young right-hander, as his lone rehab appearance with Triple-A Buffalo was limited to two-thirds of an inning. On the year, Yesavage owns a 3.67 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 94:46 K:BB across 95.2 innings (19 starts), and it remains to be seen if he'll make another appearance before the conclusion of the regular season.

  • The Blue Jays activated Yesavage (knee) from the 15-day injured list Monday.

Yesavage will rejoin the rotation with a start Monday versus the Orioles after being shelved since early August following meniscus surgery on his left knee. He threw only 34 pitches over two-thirds of an inning during his lone rehab outing, and the Blue Jays are aiming to get just three frames out of Yesavage against Baltimore. The right-hander has authored a 3.65 ERA and 91:46 K:BB over 93.2 frames covering 18 starts in the big leagues this season.

  • Yesavage (knee) is scheduled to be reinstated from the 15-day injured list to start Monday's game against the Orioles, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Yesavage has been out since August after undergoing surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee, and although he made just one rehab appearance at Triple-A Buffalo that lasted two-thirds of an inning, he's been cleared to help the Jays cross the finish line of the 2026 season. His first start back isn't expected to last very long, however, as the Blue Jays are hoping to get roughly three innings out of him (45-to-50 pitches) before handing the ball to Spencer Miles. Yesavage will then be tentatively lined up to make one final start next weekend against the Reds, during which he could have a larger workload.

  • Yesavage (knee) will throw a bullpen session this weekend and is on track to be activated from the 15-day injured list either Sunday or Monday, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.

Yesavage didn't fare well in a rehab appearance Tuesday with Triple-A Buffalo, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits and one walk over just two-thirds of an inning. However, the Blue Jays are fighting for a wild car spot, so they don't have the luxury of giving Yesavage more time to get sharp. Yesavage could start Sunday against the Rangers or Monday versus the Orioles, but he'll be very limited from a workload perspective.

  • Yesavage (knee) thew 34 pitches and failed to get out of the first inning of a rehab outing at Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Yesavage sat at 93.3 mph on his fastball, which topped out at 94.4 mph Tuesday. The right-hander allowed two runs, one of which was earned, on two hits and a walk. Toronto's goal is for the 23-year-old to start Sept. 21 in Baltimore. The Blue Jays would like their young arm back, as they are fighting for the third wild-card spot in the American League with the Guardians.
