  • Lugo allowed four runs on seven hits and no walks while striking out three batters over 3.1 innings in a no-decision against the White Sox on Wednesday.

Lugo got six straight outs to start the game but stumbled in the third inning, when the White Sox scored four runs off five hits and two hit-by-pitches. Following this start, the 36-year-old has now allowed the most hits (200) and second most earned runs (99) in the American League. This was likely Lugo's last outing of the 2026 season, setting him up to close the year with a career-worst ERA (5.17) and WHIP (1.47) while posting a 7-9 record and 134:54 K:BB across 172.1 innings.

  • Lugo (7-9) took the loss Thursday against Houston, striking out five while allowing four runs on eight hits and one walk in five innings.

Lugo was burned badly by the long ball Thursday, serving up a whopping four homers on the evening. The veteran right-hander hasn't been particularly effective of late, giving up at least three runs in seven of his last nine starts while tossing at least six innings just twice during that span. He'll carry a 5.06 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 131:54 K:BB over 169 innings into his next scheduled outing against the White Sox, which is likely to be his last of the campaign.

  • Lugo (7-8) earned the win against the Red Sox on Friday, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out seven across five innings.

Lugo allowed two baserunners in each of the first two innings of his start but kept the Red Sox off the board until the fifth, when he allowed a solo homer to Mickey Gasper and an RBI double to Wilyer Abreu. The Royals' bullpen took care of the rest to secure Lugo's fourth win since the All-Star break, and his seven strikeouts tied a season high that he set four times prior to Friday's start. Lugo has allowed three earned runs or less in three of his last four outings, and he'll take a 4.99 ERA and 1.45 WHIP over 164 innings into his next start, tentatively slated for next week on the road against the Astros.

  • Lugo allowed three runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out one batter over five innings in a no-decision against Toronto on Saturday.

Lugo began his outing poorly, giving up two runs on five hits in the first inning. The veteran righty settled down from there, yielding only one more run and three more hits over his remaining four frames. While this wasn't Lugo's sharpest outing, it was a clear improvement over the nine-run, 3.2-inning start he registered his previous time on the mound. Lugo will carry a 5.04 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 119:51 K:BB over 159 innings spanning 29 starts into his next outing, which is slated to be a road matchup in Boston.

  • Lugo (6-8) took the loss against the Guardians on Sunday, allowing nine runs on nine hits and two walks in 3.2 innings. He struck out two.

It was a rough afternoon on the bump for Lugo, who surrendered six extra-base hits (two home runs) and coughed up three runs in every inning he worked besides the second. The nine runs allowed were a season worst, and Sunday marked his second-shortest outing of the season. He'll aim to right the ship in his next scheduled outing against the Blue Jays, holding a 5.03 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 118:49 K:BB over 153 innings.
