  • The Diamondbacks signed Espinal to a minor-league contract Thursday.

Espinal has been assigned to Triple-A Reno. The veteran infielder was released by the Rangers last month after he failed to earn a promotion to the big leagues following nearly four weeks with Texas' Triple-A affiliate. Espinal is joining his third organization of the 2026 season. He previously appeared in 36 games for the Dodgers, slashing .268/.276/.375 with four extra-base hits, seven RBI, five runs scored and a 1:8 BB:K across 60 trips to the plate.

  • The Rangers released Espinal on Tuesday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Espinal had a .643 OPS in 11 games with Triple-A Round Rock after inking a minor-league contract earlier this month following his release from the Dodgers. The utility infielder will now look to latch on with a new club.

  • The Rangers signed Espinal to a minor-league contract Thursday, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

The Dodgers designated Espinal for assignment June 16 after they got Tommy Edman back from an ankle injury. Espinal slashed .375/.385/.542 with a home run and five RBI across 16 games in his final month of play for the Dodgers (May 13 to June 13).

  • The Dodgers designated Espinal for assignment Tuesday.

Espinal will be the roster casualty necessary to make room on the 26-man and 40-man rosters for Tommy Edman (ankle), who returned from the 60-day IL on Tuesday. Espinal will have the right to elect free agency if he clears waivers, but he could decide to remain with the organization at Triple-A Oklahoma City like he did when he was DFA'd in late May.

  • The Dodgers will designate Espinal for assignment prior to Tuesday's game against the Rays, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

The transaction will free up spots on the 26-man and 40-man rosters for the return of Tommy Edman (ankle). Espinal stuck around after being outrighted off the 40-man roster in late May and was quickly added back to the big-league roster. He could elect to remain in the organization if he clears waivers again, but Espinal would have the ability to elect free agency.

  • The Dodgers signed Espinal to a contract Friday, Maddie Lee of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Espinal was outrighted to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday after clearing waivers, but he's back with the big club largely due to Enrique Hernandez going on the injured list due to a significant left oblique injury. With Hernandez sidelined and Hyeseong Kim optioned to Triple-A, Espinal could see some work at second and third base in a depth role behind Max Muncy and Alex Freeland.
