  • The Angels optioned Aldegheri to Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday.

Grayson Rodriguez (back) is expected to return from the 15-day injured list the next time the Angels need a fifth starter, and Aldegheri will end up giving up his spot in the rotation and heading back to the minors. Aldegheri's demotion comes after he went 1-3 with a 8.10 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 10:9 K:BB in 16.2 innings over his last four starts.

  • Aldegheri (3-4) took the loss against Boston on Saturday, allowing three runs on one hit and four walks while striking out two batters over four innings.

Aldegheri gave up all of his runs in the first inning, when he walked two of the first three batters he faced before Willson Contreras tagged him for a three-run homer. Following that blast, the lefty hurler allowed only three more baserunners (on two walks and an error) and no more runs, but the damage was enough to send him to the loss. The four walks were a season worst for Aldegheri, though he's issued three free passes on two occasions and has a poor 4.5 BB/9 on the campaign. Grayson Rodriguez (back) is nearing the end of his stint on the IL, and Aldegheri is a candidate to be removed from the rotation when Rodriguez returns.

  • Aldegheri (3-3) earned the win Sunday, allowing one run on five hits and a walk over five innings against the Athletics. He struck out four.

Aldegheri turned in a solid effort, tossing four scoreless innings before running into trouble in the fifth frame, though he limited the damage to just one run. Sunday's outing was a step in the right direction for the young left-hander after he allowed 11 earned runs across 7.2 innings over his previous two starts. Aldegheri will take a 4.85 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 20:13 K:BB across 29.2 innings and eight appearances (five starts) into his next outing, tentatively scheduled for Saturday against the Red Sox.

  • Aldegheri (2-3) allowed five runs on five hits and a walk while striking out three over 4.2 innings to take the loss versus the Orioles on Monday.

Keeping the ball down was a problem. Taylor Ward led off the game with a home run, and Coby Mayo added a three-run blast in the fourth inning that did most of the damage to Aldegheri's line. He's now allowed 11 runs over his last 7.2 innings. On the season, the southpaw has a 5.47 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 16:12 K:BB through 24.2 innings over seven appearances (four starts). Aldegheri is tentatively projected to make his next start at home versus the Athletics.

  • Aldegheri (2-2) took the loss Wednesday against the Diamondbacks, allowing six runs on six hits and three walks in three innings. He struck out one.

Aldegheri didn't last long Wednesday during his third start of the year, serving up a grand slam to Corbin Carroll in the second inning. The 24-year-old left-hander gave up a season-worst six runs and eight hits in what was his shortest outing as a starter so far this year. Aldegheri is tentatively lined up to take the ball against the Orioles next week, but he now holds an underwhelming 4.50 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 13:11 K:BB over 20 innings.

  • Aldegheri is scheduled to start Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks at Chase Field.

He'll be making a second straight turn in the rotation spot that previously belonged to Jack Kochanowicz (elbow), who is slated to undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery in the near future. Aldegheri picked up his second win of the season in his previous start last Friday, working five innings and striking out four batters while yielding two runs (one earned) on three hits and three walks. Over five appearances (two starts) for the Halos on the season, Aldegheri owns a 2.12 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 12:8 K:BB in 17 innings.
