  • Yarbrough earned a save against the Orioles on Thursday, striking out four batters over three perfect innings.

Yarbrough entered in the seventh frame with the Yankees up 5-1. He didn't allow Baltimore to even sniff at a comeback, retiring all nine batters he faced while tying a season high with four punchouts. It was the fifth three-inning outing of the season for the veteran lefty, and he's earned a save in three of those appearances. With that in mind, there's no reason for fantasy managers to speculate on Yarbrough getting additional saves despite the fact that the three he has notched is a career-best mark for a single season.

  • Yarbrough did not factor into the decision in Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader, allowing two hits and no walks over 2.2 scoreless innings in a 2-1 win over the Dodgers. He struck out one.

The southpaw started Sunday night's bullpen game and did his job well, holding the Dodgers scoreless before giving way to Paul Blackburn with two outs in the third inning. Yarbrough entered Sunday with a 5.27 ERA and 1.39 WHIP across his previous 10 appearances spanning 13.2 innings. On the year, the 34-year-old owns a 2-0 record with a 3.86 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, 28:16 K:BB and two saves across 39.2 innings while operating primarily as a middle reliever.

  • Yarbrough will operate as the Yankees' opening pitcher for the nightcap of Sunday's doubleheader against the Dodgers, Jorge Castillo of ESPN.com reports.

Yarbrough, a southpaw, will face at least two left-handed batters in Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman, while three of the top five batters in the Dodgers' lineup are left-handed. After Yarbrough's night comes to an end, Elmer Rodriguez figures to follow out of the bullpen. Yarbrough has posted a 3.72 ERA and 1.34 WHIP over 9.2 frames in his last eight appearances, and he hasn't exceeded two innings in an appearance since June 16.

  • Yarbrough earned the save Tuesday against the White Sox, allowing one hit while striking out three over three scoreless innings

Yarbrough entered in the seventh inning after Gerrit Cole delivered six innings of two-run ball and handed him a comfortable nine-run lead. The veteran left-hander made quick work of Chicago's lineup, tossing 24 of his 36 pitches for strikes across three scoreless frames. The save was his second of the season, and both have come via three-inning outings. Yarbrough owns a 3.08 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 21:10 K:BB across 26.1 innings. Given his role as a middle reliever, he shouldn't see many more save opportunities for New York.

  • Yarbrough tossed three scoreless innings against the Royals on Tuesday, allowing two hits and issuing one walk while registering a save.

Cam Schlittler gave New York six innings of one-run ball, and the Yankees had built a 10-1 lead when Yarbrough entered in the seventh. The left-hander ended up closing out the contest, firing 29 of 44 pitches for strikes and keeping Kansas City out of the scoring column. Yarbrough notched his first save since picking up another three-inning save in September of last season. The veteran hurler doesn't figure to log many additional saves given his middle- and long-relief role.

  • Yarbrough pitched a perfect inning while striking out two batters in a 7-4 loss to Houston on Sunday.

Yarbrough entered the game in the eighth inning, striking out both Christian Walker and Cam Smith en route to a scoreless inning. Prior to the series against Houston, the 34-year-old had struggled in his previous two appearances, allowing a combined five earned runs over 3.1 innings pitched. The left-hander has not seen much volume, appearing in only seven games through the first month of the season for New York.
