  • Garcia (1-1) struck out one over a scoreless fifth inning to earn the win Saturday over the Diamondbacks.

After Texas scored six times in the top of the fifth to take a 6-1 lead, starter Kumar Rocker began the bottom of the frame with two consecutive walks and was replaced by Garcia, who then got credited with the win. This was the reliever's third appearance since returning to the active roster last week. The left-hander has not allowed a hit, walk or run while striking out four over three innings.

  • The Rangers activated Garcia (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list Monday.

Garcia has been sidelined since April with left rotator cuff inflammation, but he's been reinstated after making just one scoreless rehab appearance. The lefty reliever could be eased back into high-leverage situations for the Rangers.

  • Garcia (shoulder) is likely to begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday, Drew Davison of MLB.com reports.

Garcia had a positive live-throwing session Wednesday and is ready for the next step. "Honestly, it felt good to be back. It felt normal," Garcia said. The left-hander's been on the injured list since April 23 due to left rotator cuff inflammation. The Rangers plan for him to make two or three appearances for the Express before being activated.

  • Garcia (shoulder) is set to begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Round Rock, MLB.com reports.

Garcia recently came out of a live session feeling well and is ready for the next step. The report didn't specify a date for when the assignment will begin, but it did indicate the Rangers want to see him throw multiple innings and pitch on back-to-back days.

  • Rangers manager Skip Schumaker said Wednesday that Garcia (shoulder) threw two bullpen sessions last week at the team's facility in Arizona, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Garcia has had a drawn-out recovery process from left rotator cuff inflammation, as the injury has kept him on the shelf since April 23. After months of little to no progress, Garcia finally seems to have turned a corner and could resume throwing live batting practice at some point this week. The Rangers remain hopeful that Garcia will be able to rejoin the big-league bullpen at some point in September.

  • The Rangers announced Aug. 12 that Garcia (shoulder) is expected to resume throwing off a mound soon, MLB.com reports.

Nearly two weeks have passed since that update, but it's unclear whether Garcia has been able to take the next step in his throwing progression by getting back on a mound. Garcia has had an uncommonly slow recovery from an injury that the Rangers have labeled as left rotator cuff inflammation. He's been on the shelf since April 23 and has had to pause his throwing program on multiple occasions after experiencing continued discomfort while playing catch.
