  • Ramirez went 1-for-3 with a walk, two stolen bases and a strikeout during Thursday's 2-1 win over the Marlins.

Ramirez stole two bases during Thursday's win, his first bags swiped since Aug. 12 against the Nationals. The 22-year-old has recorded at least one base hit in five of his last six games, though he's without an extra-base hit in his past 31 at-bats. This year, Ramirez is slashing .261/.319/.406 with six homers, 32 RBI, nine stolen bases and 20 walks over 258 plate appearances.

  • Ramirez went 2-for-3 with a double, a solo home run and an additional run scored in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Pirates.

Ramirez scored two runs for the second straight game and also tallied his first multi-hit performance of the month. The rookie infielder is batting just .161 through 31 September at-bats, and it seems like he could be starting to hit a wall in what's been a strong debut overall. Ramirez should continue to see regular time at second base in the short term, but the return of shortstop Dansby Swanson (oblique) from the injured list next week will shift Nico Hoerner back to the keystone, which figures to send Ramirez to the bench most days.

  • Ramirez is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game in Milwaukee.

It appears to be a routine day off after Ramirez had started each of the previous five contests. Matt Shaw will cover second base and will bat seventh for the Cubs.

  • Ramirez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 4-3 loss to the Brewers.

Ramirez got Chicago on the board in the fifth inning with his fifth home run of the season. The rookie infielder snapped an 0-for-18 slump over his previous five contests, and he's now batting .263 with a .740 OPS across 65 games. Ramirez continues to see regular time at second base with Dansby Swanson (oblique) on the injured list and Nico Hoerner covering shortstop, though the recent return of Matt Shaw gives the Cubs another option up the middle when needed.

  • Ramirez (back) will start at second base and bat seventh in Thursday's contest versus the Brewers.

Ramirez didn't see any action in the first three games of the series as he battled back spasms, but he's in there for the finale. The 22-year-old rookie should see the lion's share of playing time at second base down the stretch for the Cubs, though Matt Shaw also figures to be worked into the mix at the keystone.

  • Ramirez (back) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Brewers.

Ramirez has not played since Sunday as he battles back spasms, though there's been no indication thus far that he might require time on the injured list. Matt Shaw is again handling second base for the Cubs.
