  • Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Saturday that Corbin (shoulder) is a "long shot" to return from the 60-day injured list this season, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Corbin was placed on the shelf July 23 due to a left teres major strain and has yet to start up a throwing program more than six weeks later. Even if Corbin turns a corner in his recovery in the next week or two, he doesn't look like he'll have enough time to build back up even for a relief role. The 37-year-old lefty looks set to finish the 2026 campaign with a 3-4 record and one save to go with a 5.51 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 63:25 K:BB across 80 innings over 19 appearances (15 starts) with Toronto. Corbin will be headed for free agency this winter, and if he wants to keep his career going, he'll likely have to settle for a minor-league deal.

  • Toronto transferred Corbin (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday.

The transaction opens up a spot on the 40-man roster for right-hander Matt Waldron, who was claimed off waivers from the Padres. Corbin was already expected to be shut down from throwing for multiple weeks after being deactivated due to a left teres major strain, and his move to the 60-day IL ensures that he'll remain on the shelf through Sept. 19. The Blue Jays will have just seven games left on the schedule once Corbin is eligible for reinstatement, so his season is effectively over. The veteran southpaw turned in a 5.51 ERA and 1.54 WHIP across 80 innings over 19 appearances (15 starts).

  • The Blue Jays placed Corbin on the 15-day injured list Thursday with a left teres major strain.

Manager John Schneider revealed Corbin has been dealing with the injury since before the All-Star break, and the lefty will be shut down for "multiple weeks" after an MRI showed a strain, per Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca. Corbin has been pitching in a long-relief role in July.

  • Corbin secured the save Wednesday against the Mets, allowing three runs on four hits and no walks over five innings in a 9-3 win. He struck out five.

The save was the first of the season for the 36-year-old southpaw, who mopped up after opener Braydon Fisher worked one inning and Spencer Miles had handled three more while the Blue Jays built a 5-0 lead. Corbin struggled mightily as a starter last month, posting an 8.69 ERA over 19.2 innings in June, so it would make sense for Toronto to continue using him out of the bullpen. Through 74 innings this year, Corbin has a 5.11 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 57:24 K:BB.

  • Corbin has been moved to the Blue Jays' bullpen, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Corbin had previously been listed as Toronto's starting pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Mets. While he could still pitch that day, if he does it will be out of the bullpen. Corbin holds an 8.69 ERA and 16:10 K:BB over 19.2 innings covering five starts in June.

  • Corbin (2-4) took the loss against the Rangers on Friday after giving up five earned runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out five batters across 4.1 innings.

Corbin didn't do himself any favors by allowing the first three batters he faced to reach base, all of whom would eventually come around to score before the veteran lefty recorded his second out. He then gave up a two-run homer to Justin Foscue in the third frame that would prove to be the deciding factor in the game. Corbin has now failed to complete the fifth inning in each of his last four starts and has given up at least five earned runs twice in that span.
