  • The Giants outrighted Basabe to Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday.

  • Manager Tony Vitello said that Basabe was removed from Tuesday's game against the Twins due to hamstring tightness, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Basabe's hamstring has reportedly been bothering him for a few days now, and the Giants decided to err on the side of caution and pull him out of Tuesday's contest early. He doesn't seem to be bound for the injured list, though the Giants may give him a day or two off to ensure his hamstring doesn't become a larger issue.

  • Basabe isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Padres, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Basabe will retreat to the bench Saturday after starting six of the Giants' last seven games and going 3-for-19 with seven strikeouts in that span. Jonah Cox will fill in at the keystone and bat fourth.

  • Basabe is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Cardinals.

Basabe started the previous five contests for the Giants, but he'll exit the lineup for Wednesday's series finale. Jonah Cox will handle second base in Basabe's stead.

  • Basabe went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 9-5 win over the Mets.

Basabe lined a homer to left-center field in the eighth inning, giving San Francisco an 8-3 lead. He's recorded a hit in four of the Giants' last six games, batting .286 with four runs scored, four RBI and two home runs in 17 plate appearances during that span. • Basabe went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 7-3 win over Atlanta.

Basabe took Bryce Elder deep in the sixth inning for a game-tying solo homer, pulling San Francisco even at 3-3.
