  • Hoerner went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored in Monday's 7-3 win over Atlanta.

Hoerner has been good this month with a .296 batting average across 13 September contests, though he hasn't stolen a base since Aug. 28, which is generally how he derives much of his fantasy value. The 29-year-old infielder has also had to adjust to playing shortstop recently, as he's been filling in for Dansby Swanson (oblique) since the middle of August. Swanson is expected back from the injured list toward the end of the week, which should push Hoerner back to second base. He'll remain a contact-oriented hitter who can contribute runs and steals but little power.

  • Hoerner went 3-for-5 with an RBI in Saturday's 6-5 win over the Marlins.

The infielder produced his second straight three-hit effort and his third in the last nine games. Hoerner has shifted over to shortstop while Dansby Swanson (oblique) is on the shelf, but the change in defensive responsibilities hasn't caused him to lose focus at the plate. Over 18 games since Swanson landed on the IL, Hoerner boasts a .310/.320/.366 slash line with one homer, two steals, four runs and eight RBI.

  • Hoerner went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Monday's 17-3 win over the Brewers.

Hoerner contributed early in the blowout win, launching a solo homer to left field in the first inning. It marked the 29-year-old's first long ball since Aug. 4, as he slashed .287/.309/.333 with eight RBI, seven runs and five stolen bases during the 22-game homer drought. On the year, Hoerner is hitting .263/.319/.362 with eight homers, 62 RBI, 55 runs and 22 stolen bases across 135 contests.

  • Hoerner went 4-for-5 with two RBI in Monday's 7-5 extra-inning win over the White Sox.

Hoerner came through in the clutch, delivering a game-tying RBI single in the ninth frame to send the contest to an extra inning. The second baseman has totaled four hits in a game three times since the All-Star break, slashing .371/.393/.491 with three homers, 20 RBI, 15 runs and six stolen bases over the past 29 tilts. Overall, Hoerner is hitting .265/.325/.365 with seven homers, 58 RBI, 52 runs and 20 stolen bases across 123 games.

  • Hoerner went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Friday's 3-0 win over the Cardinals.

While it wasn't a particularly impressive line in the box score, the steal was Hoerner's 20th of the season, marking the fifth straight campaign in which he's reached that plateau. The Gold Glove second baseman has also hit safely in five straight games, and over 26 contests since the All-Star break he's erupted for a .365/.385/.500 slash line with three homers, six stolen bases, 14 runs and 18 RBI.

  • Hoerner is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Nationals.

After starting each of the previous 13 games, Hoerner will get a breather on the final day of the Cubs' road trip. Pedro Ramirez will cover second base in Hoerner's stead.
