Latest news

  • Lodolo did not factor into the decision Friday against the Blue Jays, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out three across five innings.

Lodolo gave up RBI doubles to Alejandro Kirk and Kazuma Okamoto in the first inning to put the Reds in an early deficit. Lodolo rebounded to keep the Blue Jays off the board over the next four frames, and he was in line for his fourth win of the season (and first since July 5 against the Orioles) before the Reds gave up four runs in the seventh inning. With the Reds eliminated from playoff contention, Lodolo will end the 2026 regular season with a 4.97 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 83:46 K:BB over 108.2 innings.

  • Lodolo (3-6) took the loss against the Cubs on Saturday, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks with one strikeout over seven innings.

Lodolo entered the sixth inning in a 2-2 tie before surrendering a solo shot to Michael Busch. It was an odd start for the southpaw, who needed just 90 pitches to complete seven frames for the second straight contest but generated only four swinging strikes while allowing 10 hard-hit balls. He owns a 5.04 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 80:44 K:BB across 103.2 innings this season and will finish his campaign at Toronto next weekend.

  • Lodolo (3-5) took the loss Monday against the Dodgers, striking out four while allowing four runs on three hits and four walks in seven innings.

Lodolo gave the Reds length but was hit hard when contact was made, serving up a pair of home runs on the evening. It was the longest outing of the season for the southpaw, who has issued multiple free passes in six straight starts and nine of his last 10. He'll take a disappointing 5.12 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 79:42 K:BB over 96.2 innings into his next scheduled appearance against the division-rival Cubs.

  • Lodolo (3-4) allowed three runs on five hits, three walks and two hit batsmen while striking out six over 4.2 innings to take the loss Tuesday versus the Dodgers.

Lodolo wasn't able to dial in Tuesday, throwing just 54 of 97 pitches for strikes. In six starts since he returned from a finger injury, he's allowed 19 runs over 27 innings with a 25:11 K:BB and five hit batsmen. Plunkings have been a problem for Lodolo -- he's tied for fourth in the majors with 14 hit batsmen despite tossing the second-fewest innings among the top-10 pitchers in that area. Overall, Lodolo has struggled to a 5.12 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 75:38 K:BB through 89.2 innings this season. His next start is projected to be a rematch at home versus the Dodgers early next week.

  • Lodolo didn't factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over six innings in a 4-3 victory over the Padres. He struck out five.

It was Lodolo's first quality start since July 5, and his best performance since returning from the IL in mid-August with a new grip on his breaking ball to try and avoid further blisters. Over five starts since being activated, the southpaw has stumbled to a 6.45 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 19:8 K:BB in 22.1 innings. Lodolo will try to build on Tuesday's effort in his next outing, which lines up to come on the road early next week against the Dodgers.

  • Lodolo didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 10-9 win over the Giants, giving up four runs on six hits and two walks over four-plus innings. He struck out five.

Half of the hits off Lodolo went for extra bases, including two-run blasts by Jonah Cox in the second inning and Rafael Devers in the fifth. Lodolo has struggled to keep the ball in the yard since coming off the IL earlier this month and attempting to employ a new grip on his curveball to avoid blisters. Over his last four starts he's served up six homers in 16.1 innings en route to a 7.72 ERA, 1.84 WHIP and 14:6 K:BB. The southpaw will be a risky fantasy option in his next trip to the mound, which is set to come at home early next week against the Padres.
