  • Andujar's $8 million mutual option for 2027 was declined Monday.

Andujar will receive a $2.5 million buyout instead and is now a free agent. The 31-year-old was limited to only 74 regular-season games in 2026 due to injury, slashing .259/.303/.423 with five home runs. Andujar ended the season on the injury list with a wrist issue, but he's healthy heading into the offseason.

  • Andujar (wrist) took live at-bats at Petco Park on Monday, MLB.com reports.

Andujar had been rehabbing with Triple-A El Paso before the club's season ended Sunday. Over nine games with the Chihuahuas, Andujar slashed .306/.316/.444 with no homers, five doubles, five RBI and a 1:4 BB:K. It appears the veteran infielder/outfielder is at the end of his recovery, but it remains to be seen if San Diego will make room for him to be activated from the IL before the end of the season.

  • Andujar (wrist) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday, going 1-for-4 with an RBI double.

Andujar has been sidelined since just after the All-Star break with a fractured right wrist, but he's finally advanced to playing in games. The 31-year-old should rejoin the active roster soon as the Padres fight for a playoff spot. Once he does return, Andujar could see regular reps at designated hitter.

  • The Padres announced Monday that Andujar (wrist) has been cleared to begin a swing progression, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Andujar went down just after the All-Star break with a fractured right wrist. He will ramp up a swinging progression before eventually heading out on a rehab assignment. Andujar is without a timeline to return from the 10-day injured list, but he appears unlikely to make it back before the end of August.

  • The Padres announced Friday that Andujar no longer requires a splint for his fractured right wrist and has been cleared for light activity, MLB.com reports.

Andujar hasn't yet been cleared to take full swings, however, and that will be a major checkpoint in the recovery process that he'll need to hit before his return from the 10-day injured list can be viewed as imminent. The 31-year-old hit .259 with five home runs, two steals, 22 RBI and 24 runs in 74 games with the Padres before landing on the shelf July 20.

  • The Padres placed Andujar on the 10-day injured list Monday with a fractured right wrist.

Andujar was struck by a Lucas Erceg pitch during Sunday's win over the Royals. He remained in that contest, but subsequent testing revealed a fracture. Andujar needs only a splint and not a cast, and the Padres expect him to return sometime in August, per AJ Cassavell of MLB.com. With Andujar shelved, the Padres could utilize Manny Machado in the designated hitter spot and Sung-Mun Song at third base. On Monday in Atlanta, the club has Xander Bogaerts at DH and Song at shortstop.
