  • Marlins manager Clayton McCullough announced Monday that Meyer (neck) has been shut down from throwing and will not return this season, Jesse Borek of MLB.com reports.

Meyer landed on the 15-day injured list just after the All-Star break because of a neck strain. He resumed throwing earlier this month in a last-ditch effort to make a late-season return, but the decision has been made to shut the right-hander down. Meyer will undergo further evaluation before the next steps of his rehab are determined, but it seems at this juncture that the 27-year-old should be ready to roll by spring training. The righty will finish the 2026 season with a 2.68 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 121:41 K:BB over a career-high 111 innings.

  • Miami announced Monday that Meyer (neck/rib) has resumed a throwing program, Craig Mish of Marlins.tv reports.

Meyer has finally been cleared for a throwing progression after being out for the past seven weeks due to a neck strain and more recently rib discomfort. The right-hander almost surely doesn't have enough time to get ramped back up to return as a starting pitcher, but it's possible the Marlins will activate Meyer to pitch in relief later this month if all goes well with his throwing program.

  • Marlins manager Clayton McCullough said Monday that Meyer (neck/rib) has yet to be cleared to resume a throwing program, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Meyer landed on the 15-day injured list just after the All-Star break due to a neck strain, and he more recently suffered a rib injury that required a cortisone shot. The right-hander is rehabbing at the Marlins' spring training complex in Florida, and it's unclear when he will be cleared to throw. With just over a month remaining in the regular season, Meyer is running out of time to get stretched back out to return as a starting pitcher.

  • Marlins manager Clayton McCullough said Wednesday that Meyer (neck) received a cortisone shot to relieve discomfort in the rib area, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Miami placed Meyer on the 15-day injured list July 20 due to a neck strain, but his rib has apparently also been bothering him and has delayed his ramp-up process. If the shot yields the desired effect and alleviates the pain, Meyer is expected to begin throwing shortly thereafter and gear up for a return from the IL. Assuming the Marlins plan on having Meyer prepare for a starting role prior to being activated, he'll still likely need at least a few weeks to build back up, so a return before the end of August could be ambitious.

  • Meyer (neck) will be re-evaluated next week, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Meyer has been shut down from throwing since he landed on the injured list July 20 with a neck strain, but he may be cleared to resume activity if he shows enough progress during his upcoming evaluation. Once cleared to throw, he'll likely spend a couple of weeks ramping up and could require a rehab outing in the minors before returning to the Marlins' rotation.

  • Meyer (neck) will continue treatment and won't throw for the next two weeks, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

After being placed on the 15-day injured list Monday, Meyer will not throw for another two weeks and will be evaluated after that period is over. The 27-year-old is eligible for activation Aug. 4 but will most likely log an extended absence before he returns to a big-league mound.
