  • The Royals recalled Lugo from Triple-A Omaha on Saturday.

Lugo will join the Royals for their final few regular-season contests to replace Nick Loftin, who went on the paternity list Saturday. Lugo has recorded just two hits in 14 at-bats with Kansas City this year and isn't likely to have much of an impact on the team's final two games.

  • The Royals optioned Lugo to Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old will head back to Omaha since Maikel Garcia (hamstring) is coming off the injured list. Lugo has made nine appearances for the Royals this year and has gone 2-for-14 with one walk and six strikeouts.

  • The Royals recalled Lugo from Triple-A Omaha on Friday.

Lugo was scooped up off waivers from the Angels in June and slashed .271/.320/.531 with 11 homers, 36 RBI, 36 runs scored, three stolen bases and a 14:58 BB:K across 226 trips to the plate with Omaha. He'll provide some outfield depth for the Royals and could see at-bats against left-handed pitching.

  • The Royals claimed Lugo off waivers from the Angels on Tuesday.

Lugo had been designated for assignment last week after hitting .258/.382/.406 with three home runs, 11 steals and a 23:40 BB:K over 39 games with Double-A Rocket City. The 25-year-old will report to Triple-A Omaha.

  • The Angels designated Lugo for assignment Wednesday.

The transaction clears space on the 40-man roster for the addition of Nick Madrigal. Lugo has spent most of this season at Double-A Rocket City, slashing .258/.382/.406 with three home runs, 11 steals and a 23:40 BB:K over 39 games. He just turned 25 and was once a prospect of some note, so Lugo could draw interest via waivers.

  • Lugo was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday.

Lugo will head to the Triple-A level after batting .091 with a double, an RBI, and four strikeouts over 11 at-bats in five contests during spring training. The outfielder produced a .232 average with four home runs, nine RBI and nine runs scored over 69 at-bats in 31 contests with the Angels last season. He'll look to impress with Salt Lake in an attempt to get another crack with the major-league roster in 2026.
