  • The Nationals transferred Waldron (chest) to the 60-day injured list Saturday.

Waldron landed on the injured list Tuesday with chest inflammation, so his move to the 60-day IL will officially rule him out for the rest of the season. He'll close the book on the 2026 campaign after accumulating a 6.54 ERA and 1.59 WHIP with a 33:11 K:BB across 42.2 innings between San Diego, Toronto and Washington. Chase Hampton was claimed off waivers from the Yankees to fill the open spot on the 40-man roster.

  • The Nationals placed Waldron on the 15-day injured list Tuesday, retroactive to Saturday, with chest inflammation.

Waldron has pitched 5.2 shutout innings since joining the Nationals in late August, but the team will now be without his services until at least Sept. 20 as he manages his chest injury. Zak Kent will come up from Triple-A Rochester to replenish Washington's reliever depth.

  • Waldron will serve as the opening pitcher in Wednesday's game against Colorado, Mark Zuckerman of NatsJournal.com reports.

Waldron was claimed off waivers from Toronto on Saturday, and he's now set to make his Nationals debut in the first inning of Wednesday's contest. The 29-year-old righty owns an unsightly 7.54 ERA and 1.62 WHIP through 37 innings in the majors this season and will likely pitch just an inning or two before coming out of the game.

  • The Nationals claimed Waldron off waivers from the Blue Jays on Saturday.

Waldron has put up a 7.54 ERA and 1.62 WHIP over 37 innings in the majors this season between San Diego and Toronto, but the Nationals will pick him up anyway to add a multi-inning arm to their bullpen. Connelly Early (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day IL to create room for Waldron on the 40-man roster.

  • The Blue Jays designated Waldron for assignment Wednesday.

Waldron has been jettisoned from the 26-man and 40-man rosters for Brendan Cellucci, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding move. Waldron was claimed off waivers from the Padres on Aug. 5 and pitched in four games out of the Toronto bullpen, allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks with three strikeouts across 4.1 frames.

  • The Blue Jays claimed Waldron off waivers from the Padres on Wednesday.

Waldron will presumably slot into the bullpen in Toronto, where he'll provide the team with a right-handed arm capable of covering multiple innings. Toronto transferred lefty Patrick Corbin (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL in order to clear room on the 40-man roster for Waldron, who recorded a 7.16 ERA and 1.56 WHIP in 32.2 innings with San Diego this season.
