  • The Orioles optioned De Leon to their spring training complex Wednesday.

De Leon recorded one strikeout and allowed two hits without conceding a run over two-thirds of an inning during the first game of Wednesday's twin bill against Toronto. He'll now be pushed off the active roster to make room for Trey Gibson, who was recalled to start the nightcap.

  • De Leon (0-1) was tagged with the loss Tuesday against the Rockies after allowing two runs (one earned) on one hit while striking out one over one inning.

De Leon entered the game in the seventh and the first batter he faced, Mickey Moniak, reached on a fielding error from Jackson Holliday before TJ Rumfield smacked a two-run homer to put the Rockies up for good. De Leon could continue seeing work out of the bullpen, but unless he gets into the mix for holds or saves, he won't carry much fantasy appeal.

  • The Orioles selected De Leon's contract from Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday, Andy Kostka of TheBanner.com reports.

De Leon holds a 4.73 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 121:53 K:BB over 99 innings between Double-A Chesapeake and Norfolk this season. He was recently shifted to the bullpen at Norfolk but has been shaky, allowing four runs with a 6:6 K:BB over 3.2 innings. However, De Leon has a big arm and could be a weapon in relief for the Orioles if he can find the strike zone.

  • De Leon is being promoted to Triple-A Norfolk, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

De Leon is now just one step away from making his major-league debut. The southpaw has compiled a 4.33 ERA and 1.37 WHIP with a 100:42 K:BB over 81 innings in 19 starts with Double-A Chesapeake this season.

  • High-A Aberdeen reinstated De Leon (undisclosed) from its 7-day injured list Tuesday, freelance writer Steve Melewski reports.

The 22-year-old made four rehab appearances with Single-A Delmarva and is now ready to make his 2025 debut for Aberdeen. De Leon posted a 5.73 ERA, 1.89 WHIP and 65:42 K:BB across 59.2 innings for Aberdeen last year, and he'll likely need improved results to have a chance of moving up to Double-A Bowie this summer.
