  • Phillies interim manager Don Mattingly said Monday that Arraez (ankle) will not be included on the National League Wild Card Series roster, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Arraez suffered a left ankle sprain last Thursday while trying to avoid a tag at first base, and he has yet to resume baseball activities. It's possible he will return to play at some point if the Phillies advance, but Arraez's health status for the time being is very much up in the air. Otto Kemp will take Arraez's spot on the Phillies' roster.

  • Phillies interim manager Don Mattingly said that Arraez (ankle) has improved enough to potentially be used as a pinch hitter during Sunday's game versus the Rays, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Arraez has not taken any swings since suffering a left ankle sprain Thursday, so an appearance off the bench Sunday seems unlikely. However, with the Phillies still trying to lock in their playoff berth, anything is on the table. Bryson Stott is playing second base for the Phillies on Sunday.

  • Phillies interim manager Don Mattingly said Friday that the diagnosis on Arraez's left ankle sprain was "not a great one," Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

X-rays on Arraez's ankle came back negative, but additional imaging confirmed a sprain. While Mattingly did not provide a grade on the sprain, he noted that the second baseman remains stiff and sore. The Phillies will hold off on placing Arraez on the 10-day injured list -- which would rule him out until at least Game 3 of the NLDS -- but could make a roster move if Arraez's condition doesn't improve in the coming days. Bryson Stott has shifted back to second base, and Edmundo Sosa is starting at third base for the Phillies on Friday versus the Rays.

  • Arraez (ankle) is absent from the lineup for Friday's contest against the Rays.

Arraez had to be helped off the field after suffering a left ankle sprain during Thursday's game versus the Brewers. He has not been placed on the injured list to this point, which is good news, but it remains unclear when Arraez might be able to play again. Bryson Stott will slide back over to second base Friday for the Phillies, and Edmundo Sosa will get the start at third base.

  • Arraez suffered a sprained left ankle during Thursday's contest against the Brewers, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Arraez suffered the injury while attempting to beat out a groundball and avoid being tagged in the bottom of the sixth inning. The team outlined that he will be further evaluated, and his status moving forward is currently up in the air, with his availability likely to significantly affect Philadelphia's playoff outlook.

  • Arraez went 2-for-3 with two doubles, a walk and an RBI in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Nationals.

The light-hitting infielder tallied a rare showing of multiple extra-base hits, his first such effort since June 30 in Arizona as a member of the Giants. Arraez is targeting his fourth career batting title in 2026, jockeying primarily with Nick Gonzales, Otto Lopez and Gabriel Moreno in the race for the National League crown at this stage of the season. He's hitting an MLB-best .315 in 143 games on the year, and Arraez is batting .291 with two homers, nine doubles, 17 RBI and 14 runs scored over 148 at-bats since being dealt to the Phillies.
