  • The Tigers activated Carpenter (foot) from the 60-day injured list Monday.

    Carpenter missed the final 56 games of the season with plantar fasciitis in his left foot. He also spent time on the injured list earlier in the season with a shoulder injury. Carpenter appeared in just 81 games in 2026 and slashed .208/.276/.416 with 13 home runs, 36 RBI, 27 runs scored and an 18:75 BB:K across 259 plate appearances. The .692 OPS was the lowest mark of Carpenter's career.

  • The Tigers transferred Carpenter (foot) to the 60-day injured list Saturday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

    Carpenter has already been ruled out from returning this year due to plantar fasciitis in his left foot, so the Tigers will move him to the 60-day IL to create space on the 40-man roster for Justin Verlander (hamstring/hip), who is slated to start Saturday's game.

  • The Tigers announced Friday that Carpenter (foot) has ramped up his running and hitting progression with the hope of returning from the injured list before the end of the season, MLB.com reports.

    Carpenter has been on the shelf since July 27 due to left foot plantar fascitiis, and despite the 72-80 Tigers facing long odds to secure a postseason spot, the 29-year-old isn't yet willing to close the door on a potential return. If Carpenter does end up making it back before the season ends Sept. 27, he could be limited to more of a part-time role.

    The Tigers haven't officially confirmed whether Carpenter did in fact have his boot removed, but assuming that came to pass, the 28-year-old could be ready to start ramping up his baseball activities again. Carpenter has been on the shelf since July 27 due to left foot plantar fasciitis and appeared to be in line to come back from the injured list during the second half of August before a setback ended up pushing back his return date.

    Carpenter will have his foot partially immobilized for the next few days, by which time his rehab will resume based on his symptoms. The 28-year-old is recovering from plantar fasciitis in his right foot that caused him to go on the 10-day IL in late July. The Tigers should have a better idea of Carpenter's new return timeline once he's cleared to resume baseball activities.

    The results of Carpenter's evaluation will come out Tuesday, but it's not a great sign as 28-year-old continues to rehab from right foot plantar fasciitis that landed him on the 10-day injured list in late July. In Carpenter's absence, the Tigers have rotated between Colt Keith, Dillon Dingler, Eduardo Valencia and Gleyber Torres at designated hitter.
