Jung is does not need surgery to repair the non-displaced fracture in his right hand, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
He suffered the injury during the final weekend of the regular season when he was hit by a pitch. Jung will be re-evaluated every two weeks to track his progress, per Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com, but the belief is the hand will heal without surgical intervention. Jung had another injury-shortened season in 2026 but was productive when on the field, slashing .299/.365/.462 with 12 homers in 104 games.

The Rangers placed Jung on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a fractured right hand.
Jung's move to the injured list will officially rule him out for the rest of the regular season and at least the start of any potential postseason run, though it's more likely that he remains sidelined until 2027. Cody Freeman and Nicky Lopez are the leading candidates to pick up starts in the infield while Jung is out, and Logan O'Hoppe will come up from Triple-A to replenish Texas' bench depth.

X-rays revealed a fracture in Jung's right hand after his removal from Friday's game against the Twins, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Jung took a 94.6-mph fastball off his hand during his first-inning at-bat before being removed from the game an inning later. His diagnosis will almost certainly rule him out for Texas' final two regular-season contests and a potential postseason run, putting an early end to his season. Although he'll end the year on a sour note, the 28-year-old enjoyed a largely successful 2026 campaign in which he slashed .299/.365/.462 with 12 homers, 42 RBI and 53 runs scored across 444 plate appearances.

Jung was removed from Friday's game against the Twins after getting hit on the hand by a pitch, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Jung stayed in the game after taking a 94.6-mph fastball off his wrist in the first inning but was later removed in the second frame. The severity of his injury remains unknown, but the Rangers will likely send him in for imaging and provide an update once they know more. Cody Freeman would be next up to start at third base if Jung misses time.

Jung went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Blue Jays.
Jung, who was back at third base after two games as the designated hitter, putt the Rangers out front early with a first-inning home run. It was his second homer in the last three games and 11th overall for Jung, who has raked since coming off the injured list a little more than a week ago. He's 10-for-29 (.345) with two doubles, two home runs, four RBI and six runs scored over his last seven games.
