  • Trevino will start at catcher and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.

Trevino will crack the lineup for the second time in three games, and though he doesn't project to unseat Tyler Stephenson as the Reds' No. 1 backstop anytime soon, he could see a slight uptick in playing time while Cincinnati carries a third catcher on the roster (Will Banfield). The presence of Banfield will allow Trevino and Stephenson to be a part of the same lineup for the first time all season, as Stephenson will serve as the designated hitter Wednesday.

  • Trevino went 3-for-4 with two solo home runs during the Reds' 10-3 loss to the Rockies on Saturday.

The Reds could not match the offensive output of the Rockies on Saturday, but Trevino did his part with solo homers in both the third and fifth innings. It was the first multi-homer game of the season for the veteran catcher and the third of his major-league career, with the last instance taking place May 12, 2024 against the Rays while playing for the Yankees. Trevino has a .715 OPS with three home runs and 10 RBI across 74 plate appearances this season.

  • Trevino went 3-for-4 with a three-run home run in Thursday's 7-2 win over the Brewers.

Trevino changed the complexion of the game in the fourth inning, when he took one of MLB's best pitchers, Jacob Misiorowski, deep for a two-out shot that barely cleared the fence. It was the first homer of the season for the backup catcher, who last homered in June of 2025. He entered the contest with a .192 batting average on the season but since coming off the injured list June 14, Trevino's gone 9-for-27 (.333) over eight games.

  • The Reds reinstated Trevino (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Sunday.

Following just under a month-long stay on the shelf due to a left hamstring strain, Trevino will rejoin the Reds ahead of their series finale versus Arizona and will start at catcher and bat eighth Sunday. Trevino, who played in three minor-league rehab games prior to being activated, will reprise his usual duties as the No. 2 backstop behind Tyler Stephenson. The Reds optioned fellow catcher P.J. Higgins to Triple-A Louisville to make room on the active roster for Trevino.

  • Trevino (hamstring) will make one final rehab appearance for Triple-A Louisville before being activated Friday, MLB.com reports.

Trevino appeared in games June 4 and June 6 but has since stepped away to address personal matters. He'll resume the assignment Wednesday before Friday's expected activation.

  • Trevino (hamstring) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville on Thursday, going 0-for-3 with a strikeout.

Trevino also caught six innings behind the plate in his first bit of game action since he strained his left hamstring nearly three weeks ago. The veteran backstop shouldn't require too many more rehab at-bats before rejoining the Reds' active roster.
