  • Romano (0-4) allowed one earned run on two hits and struck out one batter across one inning to take the loss to the Mariners on Friday.

Romano entered the game with the score tied at 4-4, but he served up a leadoff home run to Lazaro Montes. Romano has had limited save chances in recent weeks, as the Rockies have just one win in their last 12 games, but he has allowed at least one earned run in three of his seven September appearances. Colorado hasn't shown any sign of moving Romano out of the closer role, but he isn't in a great position to make a strong fantasy impact down the stretch.

  • Romano blew a save against the Tigers on Saturday, allowing two runs on one hit and two walks over one inning.

Colorado held a 7-4 lead heading into the bottom of the eighth inning, but the Rockies' bullpen couldn't hold the advantage. Jaden Hill allowed five straight batters to reach base without getting an out, and Romano couldn't do much better, walking the first two batters he faced before giving up a two-out, two-run triple. The veteran reliever had a stretch of nine appearances without giving up an earned run from mid-August to early September, but over his past three outings he's blown two saves while giving up four earned runs across 2.2 frames. Colorado doesn't have many reliable options in its bullpen, so Romano probably isn't in imminent danger of losing his closer role.

  • Romano struck out one without allowing a run, hit or walk over two-thirds of an inning to earn the save in Saturday's 10-7 win over the Cardinals.

Juan Mejia wasn't able to make quick work of the Cardinals in the ninth inning, creating a save situation. Romano got the job done instead, rebounding from his blown save and loss Friday. Romano is now at a 4.88 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 31:15 K:BB across 27.2 innings between the Rockies and the Angels this year. He's converted 15 of 19 save chances while adding one hold. Considering Romano has pitched consecutive days, he may not be available to take a save chance Sunday.

  • Romano (0-3) took the loss and was charged with his fourth blown save of the season Friday against the Cardinals. He allowed three runs (two earned) on one hit and a walk over one inning in Friday's 7-6 loss to the Cardinals.

Romano entered the ninth tasked with protecting a 6-4 lead but couldn't finish the job. He walked Thomas Saggese to open the inning before Jose Fermin reached on a throwing error with one out, setting the stage for Ivan Herrera's go-ahead three-run homer. Romano has gone 14-for-18 in save chances this season, and this was just his second blown save since the All-Star break. He owns a 2.84 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 18:9 K:BB over 19 innings since joining the Rockies.

  • Romano struck out two in a perfect ninth inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 4-2 victory over the Orioles.

Romano was handed a two-run advantage and had no trouble protecting it, striking out Colton Cowser and Blaze Alexander before getting Holliday to fly out to finish the game. The right-hander needed just 17 pitches (11 strikes) to retire the side in order and collected his 14th save of the season. Romano owns a 4.50 ERA overall this season but has posted a 2.00 ERA since joining Colorado.

  • Romano walked one in a scoreless ninth inning Tuesday to record his 13th save of the season in a 3-1 win over the Nationals.

The veteran right-hander may be turning his career around with the most unlikely of teams. Romano has converted nine of 10 save chances since landing with the Rockies, posting a 2.30 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 15:8 K:BB over 15.2 innings -- a remarkable turnaround after he began 2026 with a 10.13 ERA in eight frames for the Angels.
