Latest news

  • Peguero (hamstring) has expanded his flat-ground throwing to 105 feet and is schedule to throw live batting practice sessions by late October, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Peguero missed much of the 2026 season with a recurring left hamstring strain, with his last appearance coming in mid-August. However, the reliever appears set for a normal offseason before competing for a bullpen job with the Giants in 2027.

  • Peguero has been shut down for the season due to a recurring left hamstring injury, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Peguero has been out since late May, and he didn't retire a batter in either of his rehab appearances with Triple-A Sacramento this month. It's unclear whether surgery is a possibility, but either way Peguero's 2026 campaign is over. He'll finish with 2.38 ERA and 5:4 K:BB over 11.1 innings for the Giants.

  • Peguero (hamstring) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday, walking all three batters he faced and getting charged with three runs.

It certainly wasn't the result Peguero was looking for, but he could be a bit rusty given that it was his first game appearance since late May. The righty reliever is working his way back from a strained hamstring and will need a few more rehab outings before rejoining the Giants' bullpen.

  • Peguero (hamstring) threw a 15-pitch live bullpen session Friday at the Giants' facility in Arizona, MLB.com reports.

Peguero is scheduled to repeat the activity again Wednesday, and if all goes well, he could then start throwing live batting practice. The reliever has been on the shelf since June 1 due to a left hamstring strain and appears to be trending toward a late-August return from the injured list.

  • Peguero (hamstring) threw 30 pitches during a bullpen session Monday, Evan Webeck of the California Post reports.

Peguero landed on the 60-day injured list June 1 due to a left hamstring strain, but it appears his rehab is coming along at a nice pace. He was immediately placed on the 60-day IL after suffering the injury, so he won't be eligible to be reinstated until the end of July. Peguero will presumably be asked to complete at least another bullpen or two before facing live hitters.

  • The Giants placed Peguero on the 60-day injured list Monday due to a left hamstring strain, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Peguero strained his left hamstring during the eighth inning of Sunday's win over the Rockies. The injury is severe enough for Peguero to go straight onto the 60-day IL, which means the earliest he's eligible to be reinstated is July 31. Wilkin Ramos was called up from Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move.
