Wetherholt is not in the lineup for Sunday's game in Milwaukee.
Wetherholt will grab a seat for Sunday's regular-season finale while Cesar Prieto covers second base. Assuming he does not appear off the bench Sunday, Wetherholt will finish his rookie season with a .242/.339/.365 slash line, 17 home runs, 14 stolen bases and a 64:104 BB:K.

Wetherholt went 3-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Pirates.
Wetherholt provided the Cardinals with a steady presence at the plate, reaching base four times and scoring the first run of the game off an Alec Burleson single. The rookie infielder has gone 6-for-20 (.300) in six games since being activated from the injured list Sept. 16. He's closing out a productive rookie campaign with a .710 OPS, 17 home runs, 14 stolen bases and 51 RBI over 136 games while providing excellent defense at second base.

The Cardinals activated Wetherholt (wrist) from the 10-day injured list Wednesday.
Wetherholt was scheduled to go through a full pregame workout Tuesday, and he came out of it with no concerns, clearing the way for his return. He's starting at second base and batting leadoff Wednesday versus the Giants. The rookie infielder has been sidelined since late August with right wrist tendinitis. Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said that Wetherholt will play just six innings Wednesday as he eases back into a full-time role, John Denton of Roundtable.io reports.

Wetherholt (wrist) will hit off a pitching machine Monday before going through a full pregame workout Tuesday, Daniel Guerrero of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Wetherholt is feeling better as he works his way back from right wrist tendinitis, and his next steps will be determined based on how he comes out of Tuesday's workout. The rookie infielder previously set a goal of returning during the Cardinals' final homestand of the season, which concludes Sunday. Wetherholt still has a chance to reach that goal, but more will be known about his timeline following Tuesday's workout.

Wetherholt (wrist) took swings at Oracle Park on Monday and is aiming to be activated from the 10-day injured list during the Cardinals' upcoming homestand, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Wetherholt was shut down for three days after being administered an anti-inflammatory shot to combat right wrist tendinitis. He's since been cleared to ramp up baseball activities. The rookie infielder could be ready to return as soon as Friday when the Cardinals return home to host the White Sox, though it will depend on how Wetherholt's wrist responds.

Wetherholt was given a cortisone injection Tuesday to combat tendinitis in his right wrist, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Wetherholt will rest for 72 hours to wait for the shot to take effect, and after that he will aim to re-incorporate baseball activities. The rookie infielder is with the Cardinals on their road trip and is eligible for activation from the 10-day injured list on the final day of that trip Sept. 9. Wetherholt could be activated on that date, but it will depend on how his wrist responds.
