  • Garcia (undisclosed) was activated from the 7-day injured list Wednesday.

Garcia made three rehab appearances at High-A Greensboro in early September, and he's since been given the green light to return to action at Triple-A Indianapolis. He's gone 4-for-14 with a home run and three runs in four games since his return from the IL.

  • Garcia was placed on the 7-day injured list Thursday with an undisclosed injury, Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

The Pirates demoted Garcia to Triple-A Indianapolis on Aug. 14 after he had been up with the big club since July 29. The 23-year-old got three hits with an RBI and no walks across 11 plate appearances in the three games he appeared in after being optioned.

  • The Pirates optioned Garcia to Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday.

Garcia had not started a game in more than a week and has gone just 8-for-48 at the plate during his time with the Pirates. He will try to get back on track with more regular playing time at Indianapolis.

  • The Pirates recalled Garcia from Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday, Jason Mackey of MLB.com reports.

Garcia has spent virtually all of the 2026 season with Indianapolis, slashing .270/.340/.422 with seven home runs and a 21:54 BB:K. Though Garcia will start in center field and bat eighth in Wednesday's series finale versus Arizona, he doesn't have an obvious path to an everyday role and could settle in as a backup at all three outfield spots during his latest stint in the big leagues.

  • The Pirates optioned Garcia to Triple-A Indianapolis on Sunday.

Garcia struggled after getting called up May 19, posting a paltry .472 OPS with no homers or stolen bases and just two RBI while striking out at a 27.0 percent rate over 37 plate appearances. He started just twice over the past seven games and will now head back to the minors to get more regular work. Infielder Davis Wendzel was selected from Indianapolis to take Garcia's spot on the 26-man roster.

  • Garcia is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.

Garcia will head to the bench for the third time in four games and could have to settle for more of a part-time role in the outfield while the Pirates continue to open up room in the lineup for Marcell Ozuna, who will draw a third straight start. With Ozuna occupying the designated-hitter spot, Oneil Cruz will cover center field and will be flanked by Bryan Reynolds and Esmerlyn Valdez in the corner spots.
