  • Pena went 4-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI in Saturday's 13-2 win over the Athletics.

Pena went deep in the third and eighth innings. The shortstop had gone just 4-for-27 (.148) over his previous seven games, adding three stolen bases in that span. Despite playing in a career-low 111 games so far, Pena has matched his career-best homer total (22) from his rookie year in 2022. He's batting .276 with an .802 OPS, 55 RBI, 81 runs scored, 19 doubles, two triples and 12 stolen bases in 2026.

  • Pena went 1-for-5 with a stolen base in Thursday's 7-5 win over the Athletics.

Pena battled a wrist injury earlier in the week and was unavailable to hit Wednesday. He started at shortstop and played the full game Thursday, so it looks like he'll be able to play through any lingering soreness as the Astros battle for the last playoff spot in the American League. Pena is batting .274 with a .790 OPS, 20 home runs, 12 stolen bases, 51 RBI, 77 runs scored, 19 doubles and two triples over 109 contests.

  • Pena (wrist) is starting at shortstop and batting leadoff for Thursday night's matchup against the Athletics, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Pena was unable to start Wednesday's contest against the Mariners as a result of a wrist injury suffered after being hit by a pitch Tuesday night. The infielder was able to enter as a pinch runner and swipe a bag in Wednesday's extra-inning loss to Seattle, and he will now return to the lineup one day later. Pena is batting .367 with three home runs, four RBI, seven runs scored and two stolen bases over 30 at-bats since Sept. 15.

  • Pena (wrist) stole a base as a pinch runner in Wednesday's 6-5 extra-inning loss to the Mariners.

Per Chandler Rome of The Athletic, Pena was only available to run the bases Wednesday after he was hit on the wrist by a pitch Tuesday. Pena would manage to steal a base, his 11th theft this season and his second in his last two games. It remains to be seen whether Pena will be available in an expanded capacity in Thursday's series opener against the A's.

  • Pena (wrist) isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mariners, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Pena was pulled from Tuesday's game after taking a pitch off his right wrist in the eighth inning, and he'll need at least one more day off to recover before returning to action. Nick Allen will fill in at shortstop and bat ninth.

  • Pena was removed from Tuesday's game against the Mariners after getting hit on the wrist by a pitch, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Pena ran the bases for himself after taking a 96.4-mph sinker off his right wrist in the eighth inning, but he was replaced at shortstop when the Astros' defense took the field in the bottom of the frame. He'll likely undergo X-rays to determine whether he suffered a fracture, and more information on his health may be available after the game.
