Padres manager Craig Stammen said Wednesday that Estrada (shoulder) had resumed throwing off the mound and could have been added to the roster if his team advanced to the NLCS, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Estrada missed the final month-plus of the regular season and the playoffs with a right shoulder impingement. However, it sounds like the reliever should enter the offseason without any limitations. Injuries limited Estrada to 33 appearances in 2026, and he finished with a 3.48 ERA and 38:16 K:BB over 31 innings. Slated to turn 28 in November, Estrada will be arbitration-eligible for the first time this offseason.

The Padres reinstated Estrada (knee) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday.
Estrada will be available out of the bullpen for the Padres' series finale versus the Rockies after San Diego cleared a spot for him by designating right-hander Matt Waldron for assignment. Prior to landing on the IL on June 5 due to right knee inflammation, Estrada handled a key setup role in front of closer Mason Miller. Estrada (knee) moved his rehab assignment up to Triple-A El Paso, walking two and allowing one hit over one-third of an inning in an appearance Tuesday.
Working his way back from right knee inflammation, Estrada began a rehab assignment last week in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League. He's been shelved since early June, so Estrada could be asked to make another rehab appearance or two before being reinstated to the Padres' active roster.
