  • The Mets released Oliva on Saturday.

The 30-year-old was designated for assignment by New York on Thursday and will now part ways with the organization after clearing waivers. The Mets claimed Oliva off waivers from the Giants in late June, and he appeared in four games for Triple-A Syracuse before being DFA'd. He played in seven games for San Francisco early in the season before being sidelined due to a hamate bone fracture in mid-April.

  • The Mets designated Oliva for assignment Thursday.

Oliva was a waiver claim of the Mets in late June and the outfielder will now go through the waivers process again. His spot on the 40-man roster is being absorbed by Dan Hammer.

  • The Mets claimed Oliva off waivers from the Giants on Tuesday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Oliva went 1-for-7 for the Giants before suffering a hamate bone fracture and then slashed just .241/.288/.315 in 14 games with Triple-A Sacramento after returning. He'll report to Triple-A Syracuse, where he will give the Mets an experienced outfielder capable of playing all three spots on the grass.

  • The Giants reinstated Oliva (wrist) from the 60-day injured list Saturday and designated him for assignment, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Oliva had been on the injured list since mid-April after undergoing surgery to repair a fractured hamate bone in his left wrist. He began playing in rehab games May 30 and has slashed .241/.288/.315 across 60 plate appearances over 14 games. If he clears waivers, he'll presumably fill in as organizational depth at Triple-A Sacramento.

  • Oliva (wrist) started at designated hitter and went 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, a double, an RBI and a run scored in Triple-A Sacramento's 6-4 loss to Reno on Saturday.

Oliva underwent surgery in mid-April to address a left hamate bone fracture and began his rehab assignment with the Rivers Cats on Saturday. The 30-year-old doubled in the third inning, hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth and singled in the seventh before stealing two bases and scoring. The outfielder will be eligible to return to the big-league roster in mid-June.

  • The Giants transferred Oliva (wrist) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday.

Oliva remains without an official timeline to rejoin the Giants after undergoing surgery just under two weeks ago to address a left hamate bone fracture, but his move to the 60-day IL ensures that he'll remain on the shelf through mid-June. The 30-year-old outfielder went just 1-for-7 at the dish in seven games with the Giants prior to landing on the IL and may not be guaranteed a big-league roster spot once he's activated.
