  • Taillon was scheduled to undergo flexor tendon surgery with Dr. Keith Meister on Oct. 5, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Taillon told Davidi prior to the operation that "there's a good chance" he'll need an internal brace of his UCL as well, though it's unclear whether that occurred. The veteran right-hander had undergone two Tommy John surgeries previously. Taillon will turn 35 next month, is an impending free agent and will miss most, if not all, of the 2027 campaign. However, he plans to continue his pitching career. Taillon logged a 5.65 ERA over 18 starts between the Cubs and Blue Jays in 2026.

  • Taillon (elbow) revealed his "season is over" Tuesday and confirmed he'll be evaluated by Dr. Keith Meister in Texas on Sept. 22, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Taillon is hopeful that an injection or two along with an offseason to rest and rehab will get his right elbow back to health. It was thought at one point the right-hander could return before the regular season concluded as the Blue Jays make a push for the final wild-card spot in the American League, but that possibility has now been officially ruled out.

  • The Blue Jays placed Taillon on the 15-day injured list Saturday due to right elbow inflammation.

Taillon made his return from the 15-day injured list Friday against the Royals, but his night abruptly ended after just two innings and 29 pitches. Further tests revealed elbow inflammation, and the right-hander will be shelved until at least Sept. 20. Southpaw Ricky Tiedemann was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding move.

  • Taillon (elbow) will undergo an MRI on Friday night and will likely be placed on the injured list Saturday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Taillon's return from the IL didn't last long, as the elbow injury -- described by Taillon as more of a nerve issue -- cut Friday's outing short after two innings and 29 pitches. The Blue Jays' hands are tied with the bullpen taxed in relief of Taillon, and their options to replace Taillon in the rotation are limited with Trey Yesavage (knee) still a little ways off.

  • Taillon was removed from Friday's game against the Royals with right elbow discomfort.

Taillon was just activated Friday after missing time with a forearm issue, and he lasted only two innings and 29 pitches in his return. His availability for his next start is very much up in the air, yet the Blue Jays might not have much of a choice but to make a roster move to replenish the bullpen after Taillon's abbreviated outing.

  • Toronto activated Taillon (forearm) from the 15-day IL and he will start Friday's game against the Royals.

Taillon, who has been shelved since Aug. 11, will make his return to the big-league mound Friday. In two starts for Toronto since being traded by the Cubs, the right-hander owns a 3.38 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 7:5 K:BB over eight innings. The Blue Jays optioned Ricky Tiedemann to Triple-A Buffalo to clear a roster spot for Taillon.
