  • Rutledge (undisclosed) re-signed Tuesday with the Phillies on a minor-league contract.

Rutledge previously joined the Phillies organization as a waiver pickup back in May, but he was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley after his acquisition and made just five appearances for the affiliate before landing on the 7-day injured list. Philadelphia then released Rutledge last week, but the decision to bring him back on a new deal suggests that he's moved past the undisclosed injury and is ready to pitch for Lehigh Valley again.

  • The Phillies released Rutledge (undisclosed) on Tuesday.

Rutledge had been designated for assignment, and the Phillies have elected to cut him loose after he cleared waivers. The righty was a waiver claim by Philadelphia in early May and has not pitched since late May due to an undisclosed injury. The 27-year-old holds a career 6.29 ERA and 88:34 K:BB over 103 innings covering parts of four big-league seasons.

  • The Phillies designated Rutledge (undisclosed) for assignment Thursday.

The transaction clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Derek Hill, who was acquired via trade Thursday. Rutledge was a waiver claim from the Nationals last month and turned in a 7.20 ERA and 3:3 K:BB over five innings with Triple-A Lehigh Valley before going down with an undisclosed injury. Rutledge hasn't pitched in two weeks, and it's uncertain when he'll be cleared to get back on a mound.

  • The Phillies claimed Rutledge off waivers and optioned him to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Sunday.

The 2019 first-round pick was designated for assignment by the Nationals on Tuesday but will retain his position on a 40-man roster with the Phillies. Rutledge surrendered seven earned runs in his lone appearance for Washington this season and had an underwhelming 3.38 ERA and 1.53 WHIP over 13 outings to begin the year at Triple-A.

  • The Nationals designated Rutledge for assignment Tuesday, Kyle Williams of TheBanner.com reports.

Rutledge will end up without a spot on the 40-man roster in order to make room for Max Kranick (elbow), who signed a major-league contract with Washington on Tuesday. Rutledge gave up seven earned runs in just 1.1 innings during his lone MLB appearance this season and owns a 3.38 ERA and 1.53 WHIP through 13.1 frames at Triple-A Rochester.

  • Rutledge was optioned to Triple-A Rochester on Monday.

Rutledge was torn apart by the Pittsburgh offense during Monday's 16-5 loss, as he gave up seven runs on six hits and two walks while striking out two over 1.1 innings of relief work. Washington will presumably call up a fresh arm ahead of Tuesday's clash, though a move has yet to be announced by the club.
