  • Herrera is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Giants.

It's the first day off since July 23 for Herrera, who is hitless over his last five games. Leo Bernal will slot in at designated hitter, and Pedro Pages is getting a start at catcher while Herrera gets a day to regroup.

  • Herrera went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 10-8 win over the Rockies.

The multi-hit onslaught continues for Herrera, who has at least two knocks in five of his last six games. He's also driven in 11 runs in that span. The catcher is batting .251 with a .750 OPS, 16 home runs, 64 RBI, 89 runs scored, 25 doubles, one triple and eight stolen bases over 143 contests. Herrera has thrived in the No. 2 spot in the order for much of the year, providing him with plenty of chances to cross the plate ahead of the duo of Alec Burleson and Jordan Walker most games.

  • Herrera went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and an additional RBI in Saturday's 10-7 loss to the Rockies.

Herrera has homered in consecutive contests, and he's logged multiple hits in five of his last six games. In that span, he's supplied nine RBI. The catcher continues to log a fair amount of time at designated hitter to keep his bat in the lineup while Leo Bernal learns the ropes behind the dish. Herrera is batting .248 with a .744 OPS, 16 homers, 62 RBI, 87 runs scored, 24 doubles, one triple and eight stolen bases over 142 games this season.

  • Herrera went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run in Friday's 7-6 victory over the Rockies.

Herrera delivered the game's decisive swing with St. Louis trailing 6-4 in the ninth with a 430-foot blast to center field to give the Cardinals a one-run lead in the top of the ninth. The homer was his 15th of the season and completed a comeback after the Cardinals had squandered an early three-run advantage. Herrera has had four multi-hit performances in his last five games, and this homer snapped a 15-game stretch without a long ball.

  • Herrera went 2-for-5 with a double, two RBI and a stolen base in Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Pirates.

Herrera was on the front end of a double steal during the seventh inning after his RBI double against Camilo Doval. While speed isn't a huge part of Herrera's game, he's up to eight steals this season, though this one was his first since Aug. 3. The 26-year-old hit .241 in August, which is right in line with his .243 average for the season. Herrera has added a .733 OPS, 14 home runs, 55 RBI, 82 runs scored, 24 doubles and one triple across 137 contests.
