  • Happ is not in the lineup for the first game of Friday's doubleheader in Boston.

Happ is likely to be back in there for the second game of the twin bill, but he'll begin the first tilt on the bench. Tyrone Taylor will play left field and will bat cleanup for the Cubs.

  • Happ went 1-for-3 with a walk, a triple and a run scored in Thursday's 2-1 win over the Marlins.

Happ extended his modest hitting streak to six games with his third triple of the season. The veteran outfielder is batting just .228 this month, though he's sporting a strong .353 on-base percentage, which is above his .330 mark for the season. With the Cubs officially clinching their spot in the playoffs with Thursday's win, Happ may get some time off over the next few days, but he should be a lineup regular once the postseason begins.

  • Happ went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 6-4 loss to the Reds.

Happ tied the game for the Cubs in the third inning with his 24th home run of the year before Cincinnati surged ahead. The veteran outfielder hadn't gone deep since Aug. 25 and is batting just .212 with a .646 OPS in 20 games since then. Despite the slump, Happ should remain a lineup regular in the last week of the regular season as Chicago jockeys for playoff positioning.

  • Happ (knee) will start in left field and bat sixth in Tuesday's game against the Brewers.

Happ missed the previous two starts with left knee discomfort, but he appeared as a pinch hitter Monday and is back in the lineup Tuesday. The veteran switch hitter is batting .233 with zero extra-base hits across his last 10 contests.

  • Happ (knee) is out of the lineup for Monday's game in Milwaukee.

Happ is dealing with left knee discomfort and is considered day-to-day, but even if he was fully healthy, he might have sat anyway since the Brewers are sending a lefty (Robert Gasser) to the hill. Tyrone Taylor will get another start in left field in place of the switch-hitting Happ, who has produced a 43 wRC+ over 138 plate appearances versus left-handed pitching this season.

  • Happ was scratched from the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins due to left knee discomfort, Vinnie Duber of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

It's unclear when exactly the injury surfaced for Happ, who started the past four games and went 2-for-4 with a walk and two RBI in Saturday's contest. Tyrone Taylor will instead start in left field in the series finale at Miami.
