  • Kim wasn't included on the Dodgers' roster for the NLCS against the Brewers, Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com reports.

The 27-year-old played 43 games for Los Angeles across the first two months of the campaign, but he was demoted to Triple-A Oklahoma City in late May after posting a .651 OPS, ahead of Tommy Edman's return from the IL. Kim spent the rest of the regular season in the minors before being added to the roster for the NLDS, during which he made one appearance as a defensive replacement. Justin Wrobleski will round out the roster for the NLCS.

  • The Dodgers optioned Kim to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Even though Enrique Hernandez (oblique) is expected to miss a significant amount of time, the Dodgers were expected to go with Alex Freeland at second base over Kim, and Friday's transaction confirms that approach. Kim has a .651 OPS with five steals, one home run and 11 RBI across 130 major-league plate appearances this season, but since May 8 he's gone 8-for-46 (.174) with three RBI and 17 strikeouts. He'll have the chance to work on his approach at the plate in an everyday role in Triple-A.

  • Kim will start at second base and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against the Padres.

Kim made his first 24 starts of the season at shortstop, but he's shifted over to the keystone since Mookie Betts returned from the injured list May 11. Los Angeles optioned Alex Freeland to Triple-A Oklahoma City to open up second base for Kim, who will occupy the position Wednesday for the ninth time in the Dodgers' last 10 games. Kim has seen his production tail off in May with a .239/.300/.304 slash line so far this month, so he may need to show some improvement in order to ward off the likes of Santiago Espinal and Miguel Rojas for playing time in the middle infield.

  • Kim went 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Cardinals.

Kim singled home a run in the second inning and singled again and scored in the fifth. With lefty Justin Bruihl on the mound for St. Louis in the seventh, Miguel Rojas pinch-hit for Kim, who pushed his slash line to .317/.382/.417 with one homer, eight RBI, eight runs scored, five stolen bases and a 7:13 BB:K across 68 plate appearances this season. Kim should continue to see somewhat regular playing time while Mookie Betts (oblique) works his way back.

  • Kim went 2-for-3 with one RBI, a stolen base and one run scored in Friday's 6-4 loss to the Cubs.

Kim logged a steal for the second game in a row. This was his third multi-hit effort over his last six games. The infielder has hit .351 with a .918 OPS, one home run, six RBI, six runs scored, two doubles and five steals on six attempts across 44 plate appearances this season. Once Mookie Betts (oblique) returns, Kim may settle into a utility role, though he could be able to push Alex Freeland into a platoon role at second base.

  • Kim went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base Thursday in a 3-0 win against San Francisco.

Kim produced the game's final run with an RBI single in the fourth inning. The 27-year-old started at shortstop for the third straight game while Mookie Betts (oblique) remains sidelined, but Kim's playing time overall this season has been sporadic despite his effectiveness when called upon, as he's slashing .324/.415/.471 with one home run, five RBI, five runs and four stolen bases in as many attempts. Given his numbers with the big-league club, Kim may be earning a permanent spot on the 26-man roster even after Betts returns to action.
