Triple-A St. Paul placed Mendez on its 7-day injured list Saturday due to a left shoulder impingement, Theodore Tollefson of ZoneCoverage.com reports.
After opening the season at Double-A Wichita, Mendez earned a promotion to Triple-A in early May and has continued mashing, producing a .321/.431/.468 slash line with four home runs and three stolen bases in 130 plate appearances for St. Paul. Assuming Mendez is able to move past the shoulder issue quickly, he'll have a shot at making his MLB debut at some point in the second half of the season.

The Twins optioned Mendez to Double-A Wichita on Monday.
Mendez is already in his third organization after previously being traded away by the Brewers and Phillies and is entering his first season as a member of a 40-man roster, after the Twins opted to protect him from the Rule 5 Draft over the winter. The 22-year-old outfielder will head back to Wichita to begin the 2026 campaign but could be in line for a quick promotion to Triple-A St. Paul after he slashed a blistering .324/.461/.450 in 33 games for the Double-A club upon coming over in a July 31 deal that sent Harrison Bader to Philadelphia.

The Twins selected Mendez's contract from Double-A Wichita on Tuesday.
Mendez spent all of 2025 in Double-A, posting a .299/.399/.439 slash line with 11 homers, 62 RBI, 68 runs scored and 10 steals over 491 plate appearances between Philadelphia's and Minnesota's affiliates. Now the owner of a 40-man roster spot, the 22-year-old doesn't have to worry about being selected in the Rule 5 Draft and can now focus on reaching Triple-A St. Paul sometime in 2026.

The Phillies traded Mendez to the Twins on Thursday alongside right-handed pitcher Geremy Villoria in exchange for Harrison Bader, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
Mendez has spent all of 2025 with the Phillies' Double-A affiliate, where he slashed .290/.374/.434 with eight homers, 46 RBI and 44 runs scored through 349 plate appearances. The 21-year-old outfielder will likely head to Double-A Wichita upon joining his new organization and could receive a promotion to Triple-A St. Paul before the end of the year.

The Phillies acquired Mendez and Robert Moore from the Brewers on Tuesday in exchange for Oliver Dunn.
Mendez spent the majority of the 2023 season with the High-A affiliate of the Brewers, slashing .236/.307/.326 with three home runs across 62 games in the Midwest League. He can play all three outfield spots and just turned 20 years old but still has a lot to work on offensively.
