  • The Red Sox recalled Weissert from Triple-A Worcester on Thursday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

    He'll grab the roster spot vacated by the injured Garrett Whitlock (elbow). Weissert has posted a 3.97 ERA and 44:14 K:BB over 45.1 innings covering 48 appearances out of the Boston bullpen in 2026.

  • The Red Sox optioned Weissert to Triple-A Worcester on Friday, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.

    After the Red Sox blew through their bullpen in Thursday's 13-inning affair against the White Sox, reinforcements were needed, and Weissert is the odd man out. Raymond Burgos has been added to the big-league roster.

  • Weissert struck out two in a perfect inning to earn the save in Wednesday's 4-2 extra-inning win over the Athletics.

    Weissert got the call for the 10th inning after Aroldis Chapman was utilized to keep the game tied in the ninth. Weissert has allowed four runs with a 9:1 K:BB over 10 innings in July, but he's also scooped up three wins this month. On the year, he has a 4.04 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 40:12 K:BB through 42.1 innings while adding a save, five holds and two blown saves. He's not a realistic threat to Chapman's status as the Red Sox's closer.

  • Weissert allowed two runs on one hit and one walk over one inning in Thursday's 10-2 loss to Atlanta.

    Weissert was handed a tough ask by interim manager Chad Tracy, who brought the reliever in to a bases-loaded, nobody-out jam in the middle of the sixth inning of a tie game. The right-hander proceeded to walk the first batter he faced and then was taken deep for a grand slam, with Danny Coulombe getting stuck with the loss as a result. Weissert's struggled this season with inherited baserunners, allowing 12 of 21 to score. His own ERA ballooned to 4.43 (11 ER in 22.1 IP) following the outing.

  • Weissert pitched a scoreless ninth inning during which he allowed one hit in the 5-0 win over the Blue Jays on Monday.

    Weissert has tallied 62 or more appearances the last two seasons with the Red Sox and is on pace for that again with 13 trips to the mound over Boston's first 29 games. The right-hander is being used primarily low-leverage situations thus far after blowing nine save opportunities last season, the second most in MLB. Weissert does continue to boast above-average swing-and-miss stuff, however, recording 16 strikeouts across his first 11.2 innings in 2026.

  • Weissert earned the save in Sunday's 4-3 win over Detroit, striking out two while allowing a hit and a walk in a scoreless ninth inning.

    Called upon with a one-run lead, Weissert quickly faced trouble when he yielded an infield single to Andy Ibanez, putting the winning runner on-base. However, the right-hander quickly regained control, using five pitches to retire the next two batters and close out the game. The 30-year-old ends the year with a 2.82 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 57:21 K:BB across 67 innings of work.
