  • Perdomo (head) will start at shortstop and bat leadoff in Monday's game versus the Royals.

Perdomo was struck in the helmet by a line drive off the bat of Ketel Marte when he was running the bases in Sunday's game against the Astros, forcing his exit. However, he did not experience concussion symptoms and will not have to miss a start.

  • Manager Torey Lovullo said after Sunday's game against the Astros that Perdomo (head) is not in the concussion protocol, Jack Sommers of SI.com reports.

A scary incident unfolded in the third inning Sunday, when a ball off the bat of teammate Ketel Marte struck Perdomo in the helmet as Perdomo was running the bases. It seems he avoided a concussion, and further, Lovullo indicated the shortstop will be in the lineup Monday in Kansas City without missing a start.

  • Perdomo was removed from Sunday's game against the Astros after being struck in the head by a line drive, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

After Perdomo started the top of the third inning with a single, teammate Ketel Marte hit a 93-mph liner that Perdomo was unable to avoid. The 26-year-old shortstop was called out for runner's interference and was able to leave the field under his own power, but he was replaced defensively for the bottom half of the frame. Perdomo was diagnosed with a head contusion and will continue to be evaluated.

  • Perdomo went 1-for-4 with a walk, a stolen base and two runs scored in Friday's 10-6 win over the Giants.

Perdomo logged a steal for the second game in a row. He's batting .361 (13-for-36) over his last 10 games, though just two of those hits have gone for extra bases. The shortstop is batting .254 with a .737 OPS, 19 steals, nine home runs, 46 RBI, 63 runs scored, 18 doubles and six triples over 131 contests this season. While he's been nowhere near his 20-homer, .851 OPS performance from last year, he continues to occupy a starting role thanks to his strong ability to get on base.

  • Perdomo went 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored in Friday's 9-0 win over the Reds.

Perdomo has a multi-hit effort in each of Arizona's Friday games during August. Since he racked up four hits last Friday, he had gone just 1-for-17 at the plate over the following five games before breaking out of the slump with this effort. Perdomo is hitting .248 with a .733 OPS, nine home runs, 44 RBI, 61 runs scored, 18 doubles, six triples and 17 stolen bases over 124 contests.
