  • Valdez (10-12) gave up two runs on four hits across 5.1 innings to take the loss Wednesday against the Nationals. He walked three and struck out six.

Valdez was in strong form through five innings, allowing just a single and three walks. However, the southpaw ran into trouble in the sixth when he allowed the first three batters to reach to make the score 1-0 before he eventually got the hook. While the outing ended on a sour note, it was still another mostly good performance for Valdez, who has posted a 1.93 ERA and 19 strikeouts across 23.1 innings in September. The veteran is not scheduled to take the mound again in 2026, so he'll finish his first season in Detroit with a 4.03 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 135 strikeouts across 174 innings. After signing a three-year, $115 million contract with the Tigers in the offseason, Valdez's final stat line is a disappointment compared to the numbers he regularly posted in Houston, but he'll have the chance to restore some fantasy value if he looks good early in 2027.

  • Valdez (10-11) allowed three runs on three hits and four walks while striking out eight over five innings to take the loss versus the White Sox on Thursday.

Valdez picked up his most strikeouts in a start in the second half, but an early home run by Munetaka Murakami was the difference in the game. Over his last four outings, Valdez has given up six earned runs across 24 innings to end the season in good form. Overall, the southpaw has a 4.06 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 129:64 K:BB through 168.2 innings over 30 starts. Valdez is lined up to make one more start in the regular season, tentatively scheduled to be at home versus the Nationals.

  • Valdez (10-10) picked up the win Friday, allowing one unearned run on six hits and two walks over six innings in a 6-2 victory over the Rockies. He struck out two.

The veteran southpaw delivered his fourth straight quality start, and 16th of the season, on 90 pitches (58 strikes). Valdez has found a groove late in the year, and over his last eight outings since the beginning of August he's produced a 2.86 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 29:19 K:BB in 50.1 innings with a 5-3 record. He'll look to keep rolling in his next start, which is set to come on the road next week in Toronto.

  • Valdez (9-10) earned the win against the Guardians on Saturday, allowing three hits and one walk while striking out three over seven scoreless innings.

Valdez was given a lead in the first inning and cruised from there, throwing 60 of 94 pitches for strikes while allowing only singles despite inducing just five whiffs. The 32-year-old has now delivered three straight quality starts, though he's recorded just eight punchouts during that stretch. He'll take a 4.17 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 119:58 K:BB across 157.2 innings this season into a home matchup with the Rockies next weekend.

  • Valdez (8-10) took the loss against the Dodgers on Sunday, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk in six innings. He struck out five.

Valdez held his own versus a vaunted lineup, overcoming three extra-base hits (one home run) for a quality start. The southpaw is putting together a solid run on the mound as of late, either submitting a quality start or pitching at least five innings while yielding two runs or fewer in five of his last seven appearances. He'll carry a 4.36 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 116:57 K:BB over 150.2 innings into his next scheduled outing in Cleveland.

  • Valdez (8-9) took the loss against the Rays on Monday, allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits and two walks in six innings. He failed to record a strikeout.

A fielding error by Brett Callahan kept an earned run off Valdez's ledger, so Monday's outing ultimately goes down as a quality start. The southpaw still didn't have his best stuff on the mound, turning in just the second start of his career (192 starts) where he didn't register a punchout. Valdez is set to wrap up a two-start week this weekend against a vaunted Dodgers lineup, carrying a shaky 4.35 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 111:56 K:BB over 144.2 innings for the year.
