Pereira (hand) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Memphis on Thursday, going 1-for-3 with an RBI single along with two walks.
It was the first game in nearly a month for Pereira, who is working his way back from a left hand contusion. It's unclear whether the 25-year-old outfielder will need any more rehab contests, but he's poised to rejoin the Cardinals' active roster before the regular season concludes. Once he does return, Pereira could see playing time versus lefties.

According to Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Cardinals initially feared that Pereira broke his left hand when he was hit by a fastball in the eighth inning Friday, but X-rays came back negative. The outfielder will still need to miss at least the next week and a half while he recovers from a bruised hand. The Cardinals fear Pereira suffered a fractured left hand during Friday's loss to the Phillies, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Pereira was struck on the hand by an Orion Kerkering fastball in the top of the eighth inning. He initially stayed in the game to run the bases but did not take the field for the bottom of the frame. Initial testing seems to have revealed bad news, but the Cardinals should offer official word on Pereira later Saturday. If he has indeed suffered a fracture, Pereira's season could be over.
