Latest news
Ruiz went 1-for-3 with a walk, one RBI and three stolen bases in Saturday's 7-6 extra-inning loss to the Padres.
Ruiz made the most of his time on base, but he wasn't able to cross the plate. The speedy outfielder continues to work in a part-time role. He has gone 22 contests without a multi-hit effort, collecting four steals on six attempts in that span. For the season, Ruiz is batting .223 with a .725 OPS, six home runs, 16 RBI, 36 runs scored, 12 doubles, one triple and 33 steals over 235 plate appearances.

- Fantasy baseball lineup advice for Friday: Jared Jones primed to get back on track
Everything you need to know to set your fantasy baseball lineups for Friday's MLB action.

Ruiz is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.
Ruiz had started the previous four games, going 0-for-8 with a 1:6 BB:K while reaching base on two hit-by-pitches. Three of those starts came against left-handed pitching, and Ruiz looks as though he could mainly be limited to a short-side platoon role in the wake of Kyle Stowers' return from the injured list Monday.

Ruiz went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's win over the Phillies.
The steal was the 25th of the season for Ruiz in only 141 plate appearances, the first time he's reached that mark in the majors since he pilfered 67 as a rookie for the A's in 2023. Ruiz hasn't been able to seize a full-time role with the Marlins, but over 11 games and 24 PAs since the All-Star break he's hitting .318 (7-for-22) with a double, a solo homer, five steals and five runs while bouncing between center field and right field. Owen Caissie (calf) is close to coming off the IL to cloud the picture in right field even further, but more playing time could open up for Ruiz after the trade deadline if Miami deals away outfield competitors like Heriberto Hernandez.

Ruiz is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies.
Though Ruiz had been included in the lineup for three of the Marlins' previous four matchups versus right-handed pitching, he'll be on the bench Monday against Phillies righty Zack Wheeler. Jakob Marsee will draw the starting nod in center field but has produced a .406 OPS during the Marlins' ongoing 12-game losing streak and could see his playing time take a hit if manager Clayton McCullough wants to open up more opportunities for Ruiz, who has submitted an .854 OPS over the same stretch of action.

Ruiz went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases in Wednesday's 5-2 loss to the Astros.
Ruiz's playing time remains fairly sparse. That hasn't stopped him from racking up six steals over 13 contests in July despite going just 5-for-25 (.200) at the plate this month. The speedy outfielder is now batting .243 with an .836 OPS, five home runs, 22 steals, 10 RBI and 25 runs scored across 128 plate appearances. He doesn't have an everyday spot in the lineup but has seen fairly steady playing time versus left-handers recently.
