Manager Will Venable said Thursday that Fedde and Anthony Kay are the White Sox's likely bulk-relief options in ALDS Game 4 versus the Guardians, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Hagen Smith will take the ball first and is likely to cover multiple frames as the opener, but it will be yet another playoff game in which the White Sox use their bullpen early and often. Fedde has made one appearance this postseason, striking out three over two scoreless innings during the AL Wild Card Series clincher against the Astros.

Fedde took a no-decision against the Royals on Wednesday, allowing one unearned run on four hits and two walks in 2.2 relief innings. He struck out two.
The right-hander took over for Bryan Hudson after the latter recorded just one out as the opener. Fedde didn't end up factoring in the decision, but he gave the Chicago offense a chance to mount a comeback before ultimately falling short of victory. Fedde has posted a 3.83 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 99:52 K:BB in 141 innings across 33 appearances (15 starts) this year. The 33-year-old likely won't get another start or bulk-relief appearance during the final days of the regular season, but it's not out of the question that he's available out of the bullpen.

Fedde is slated to pitch in bulk relief behind opener Bryan Hudson during Wednesday's game in Kansas City, James Fegan of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Hudson is likely to cover the first inning or two before handing the ball over to Fedde, who has been part of the rotation for most of the season but has frequently moved between starting and bulk-relief roles. Over 16 appearances out of the bullpen in 2026, Fedde has logged a 3.95 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 5.9 K-BB% across 66 innings.

Fedde allowed one run on four hits, two walks and a hit batsman while striking out six over 4.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Tigers on Thursday.
Fedde came up an out short of qualifying for the win. He threw 52 of 89 pitches for strikes. Over his last six appearances, Fedde has allowed just five runs over 28.2 innings to put together a strong finish to the regular season. He's at a 3.90 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 97:50 K:BB across 138.1 innings over 32 games (15 starts) this season. With Luis Castillo now in the bullpen, Fedde should be in line for one more regular-season start at Kansas City next week.

Fedde (8-9) was tagged with the loss versus Pittsburgh on Thursday, allowing two runs on four hits and one walk while striking out one batter over 5.1 relief innings.
Rookie Hagen Smith drew the start for Chicago, but he ended up working just two innings as the opener. Fedde took over in the third and logged a starter's workload with 81 pitches across 5.1 frames. The veteran right-hander did fine in keeping the White Sox in the game, but he was stuck with the loss since the Chicago offense wasn unable to score. It remains to be seen if Fedde will again work behind an opener or go back to a traditional starting role moving forward, but either way he's projected to next take the mound in Cleveland early next week.

Fedde (8-8) earned the win Friday, allowing three hits and two walks over five scoreless innings against Minnesota. He struck out two.
Fedde recorded his second straight outing with five innings pitched and a win. The right-hander was relieved in the sixth by Hagen Smith after logging 83 pitches (47 strikes). The 33-year-old has posted a 4.00 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 90:47 K:BB in 128.1 innings this season. Fedde is projected to make his next start Thursday against Pittsburgh.
