  • The Dodgers optioned Sheehan to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday.

Sheehan turned in another nice outing in bulk relief Sunday versus the Giants, fanning nine over 5.1 scoreless innings. However, the Dodgers evidently didn't have plans to pitch him again before the end of the regular season. Sheehan should be included on the Dodgers' NLDS roster in a bullpen role.

  • Sheehan did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing a hit and a walk while striking out nine over 5.1 scoreless innings of bulk relief against the Giants.

Entering in the second inning after Jack Dreyer, Sheehan was dominant in bulk relief, allowing just two batters to reach on his watch. The 26-year-old has looked phenomenal in three September appearances, permitting just one run over 17 innings with a 24:3 K:BB. On the year, the right-hander owns a 5-8 record with a 4.57 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 132:33 K:BB in 112.1 innings (23 appearances). With several moving parts in the Dodgers rotation, it remains to be seen if Sheehan will log another regular-season outing, but if he does, it'll likely come on the road against the Giants over the weekend.

  • The Dodgers recalled Sheehan from Triple-A Oklahoma City, and manager Dave Roberts said the right-hander is scheduled to pitch behind opener Jack Dreyer against the Giants on Sunday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

Sheehan made two starts for Los Angeles during the first half of September but was an unfortunate roster casualty despite allowing just one run with a 15:2 K:BB over 11.2 innings. The right-hander will now get another look in the majors, this time as a bulk reliever.

  • The Dodgers optioned Sheehan to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

In two starts after re-entering the Dodgers' rotation, Sheehan allowed a total of one run with a 15:2 K:BB over 11.2 innings. Despite the strong showing, Sheehan will exit the roster to make room for a fresh bullpen arm. If the right-hander is included on the Dodgers' first-round playoff roster, it would likely be as a reliever.

  • Sheehan did not factor into the decision in Sunday's 6-4 loss to the Marlins, allowing two hits and one walk while striking out five over six scoreless innings.

Sheehan dominated the Marlins, generating 14 swinging strikes on 81 pitches and allowing just four hard-hit balls. The 26-year-old has pitched well since rejoining the Dodgers on Monday, allowing just one earned run over 11.2 innings with an impressive 15:2 K:BB. He owns a 4.79 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 132:32 K:BB across 107 frames this season and lines up for a home matchup with the Giants next weekend.

  • Sheehan is slated to start Sunday's game in Miami, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

The Dodgers toyed with the idea of deploying Sheehan behind an opener Sunday, but he'll instead make a second consecutive appearance as a starter following his promotion from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday. Pitching for the big club for the first time since Aug. 2 on Monday, Sheehan twirled a gem in a win over the Reds, striking out 10 while yielding just one run on three hits and one walk across 5.2 innings. For the season, Sheehan has gone 5-8 with a 5.08 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 118:31 K:BB over 101 innings in 21 starts with Los Angeles.
