With Ke'Bryan Hayes (groin) ready to return from the injured list, Arroyo will cede his spot on the active roster. Arroyo has really struggled thus far with his big-league opportunities, managing just a .529 OPS with zero home runs over 50 contests.

After making five consecutive starts around the infield while going 1-for-16 with a 1:7 BB:K, Arroyo will be relegated to the bench for a second straight day. He could fade into a part-time role after Eugenio Suarez rejoined the Reds on Friday, returning from a two-game absence due to a personal matter.

Arroyo started at third base and went 0-for-4 in Sunday's 7-5 win over the Cubs.
Arroyo made his first start for the Reds since being called up Friday when the team placed Ke'Bryan Hayes (groin) on the 10-day injured list. This was his first time starting at third base for the Reds, although he did play seven games at the hot corner for Triple-A Louisville this year. He and Eugenio Suarez, who was the designated hitter Sunday, can fill in at third base while Hayes is unavailable.

The Reds recalled Arroyo from Triple-A Louisville on Friday.
After spending just under a month in Louisville, Arroyo will rejoin the big-league club Friday. Over his last 15 games in Triple-A, the 23-year-old is slashing .239/.271/.239 in 48 plate appearances. The Reds sent Ke'Bryan Hayes (groin) to the injured list, opening a spot on the 26-man roster for Arroyo.

Arroyo has served as the Reds' primary second baseman since early June but has produced just a .244/.286/.282 batting line with zero home runs and a 5:31 BB:K across 142 plate appearances. If he can get back on track at Louisville, Arroyo could receive another opportunity later this season. For now, though, the Reds appear poised to hand their second-base job back to Matt McLain, who returned from the injured list Thursday.
