  • Sosa (groin) will start at third base and will bat seventh Thursday in Game 3 of the NL Wild Card Series in Atlanta.

Sosa had to leave Game 2 on Wednesday after aggravating a groin injury that he initially suffered Sunday. While he is surely well less than 100 percent, Sosa will attempt to play through the injury Thursday. He's gone 2-for-6 with a double and a 0:1 BB:K in his first two games of the postseason.

  • Sosa was removed from Game 2 of the NL Wild Card Series versus Atlanta on Wednesday after aggravating his left groin injury, Cory Nidoh of Philly Sports Network reports.

Sosa first injured his groin during Sunday's regular-season finale versus the Rays. He aggravated the injury further Wednesday while legging out an infield single in the ninth inning. If the Phillies are forced to remove Sosa from the roster, he would be ineligible for the NLDS, should they advance.

  • Sosa went 3-for-3 with a double, a solo home run and an additional run scored during the Phillies' 6-3 loss to the Mets on Friday.

Sosa scored the Phillies' first run of the game on a Bryson Stott double in the second inning, and the latter cut the deficit to 3-2 with a solo homer in the sixth. It was Sosa's first home run since Aug. 30 and eighth homer of the year, which is three shy from his career-high total of 11 long balls that he recorded in 2025.

  • Sosa went 1-for-1 with a grand slam in Friday's 5-3 win over the Angels.

Sosa was brought in to pinch hit for Brandon Marsh in the ninth inning and delivered a game-changing blast. While Sosa's playing time remains sparse, he has gone 11-for-27 (.407) over his last 10 games, dating back to July 29. The utility man is batting .235 with a .663 OPS, six homers, 39 RBI, 24 runs scored, eight doubles, two triples and three stolen bases across 212 plate appearances this year.

  • Sosa will start at shortstop and bat eighth in Monday's game against the Cardinals.

Sosa will pick up his first start in a week, stepping into a spot in the middle infield in place of a resting Trea Turner. The 30-year-old has seen most of his opportunities against left-handed pitching this season, but he'll draw a rare start against a righty (Hunter Dobbins) in the series opener in St. Louis.
