  • Peterson didn't factor into the decision in the second game of Friday's doubleheader against the Red Sox, allowing three hits and two walks over five scoreless innings. He struck out six.

The Cubs ended up getting swept in the twin bill, but it wasn't from a lack of effort on Peterson's part. The southpaw tossed 57 of 91 pitches for strikes, and he heads into the postseason with significant momentum -- since the All-Star break, Peterson's delivered a 2.73 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 67:28 K:BB in 66 innings while going 5-1.

  • Peterson (9-8) earned the win Sunday over the Reds, allowing a run on three hits and a walk across six innings. He struck out seven.

Peterson has now turned in back-to-back quality starts while holding opponents to just three runs across 16.1 innings in his last three outings. The 31-year-old left-hander sports a 4.96 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 131:63 K:BB across 143.1 innings between the Cubs and Mets this year. Peterson will likely make one more regular-season start, currently slated to come next weekend in Boston.

  • Peterson (8-8) allowed one run on three hits and three walks while striking out seven over six-plus innings to earn the win over Atlanta on Monday.

Peterson picked up his first quality start since Aug. 22 with this performance. He's struggled to provide length at times, covering 25 innings over his last five appearances while giving up 12 runs in that span. For the season, the veteran southpaw has a 5.11 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 124:62 K:BB through 137.1 innings over 30 games (21 starts) between the Cubs and Mets. He's lined up for a road start in Cincinnati this weekend.

  • Peterson allowed one run on six hits across 4.1 innings and did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's 4-3, 10-inning loss to the Brewers. He walked three and struck out four.

Peterson did well in limiting a talented Milwaukee lineup to just one run, but he certainly dealt with plenty of baserunners, which explains why he was pulled after 4.1 innings and 83 pitches. It was still a bounceback effort for the lefty, who was tagged for six runs in just 3.2 innings his last time out against these same Brewers. Peterson will now carry a 5.28 ERA into his next scheduled start Monday against Atlanta, which projects as a very tough matchup for the starter and one that might best be avoided for fantasy purposes.

  • Peterson (7-8) took the loss against the Brewers on Wednesday, allowing six runs on seven hits and four walks in 3.2 innings. He struck out four.

The southpaw never quite got going Wednesday, surrendering a pair of runs in the opening frame and being scored upon in three of the four innings he worked. It marked just the third time through 12 appearances that Peterson conceded more than two runs in a Cubs uniform. Chicago plans to bring Edward Cabrera (blister) back as a reliever eventually, positioning Peterson for a rotation spot the rest of the way. He'll carry a 4.58 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 50:26 K:BB over 59 innings with Chicago into a road rematch with Milwaukee.

  • Peterson didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 10-8 loss to the Reds, allowing two runs on six hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out six.

The southpaw left the mound after 88 pitches (54 strikes) with the Cubs holding a 3-2 lead, but Trent Thornton immediately coughed it up in the top of the sixth once Peterson was out of the game. Peterson has given up more than two earned runs just once in his last nine outings, posting a 2.35 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 41:19 K:BB over 46 innings during that span. He's set to make his next start at home next week against the Brewers.
