Rushing will undergo a hybrid internal brace procedure on his right elbow Wednesday, Maddie Lee of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Rushing was diagnosed with a partial UCL tear in early August, which kept him from catching and limited him to just 11 plate appearances in the final two months of the regular season. The surgery will prevent him from catching on a full-time basis for nine months, a timeline that stretches into the second half of next season. Rushing will be able to hit well before then, but it's unclear whether the Dodgers would consider carrying him on their active roster only as a hitter, especially with the designated hitter slot already filled by Shohei Ohtani. Rushing slashed .246/.328/.460 with 12 home runs in 80 regular-season contests for the Dodgers this year.

The Dodgers reinstated Rushing (elbow) from the injured list Friday.
Rushing hasn't fully recovered from his elbow soreness, which stems from a partial UCL tear that will keep him from catching for the rest of the year, but the Dodgers will bring him back to serve as a left-handed bench bat. The 25-year-old has been fairly successful when healthy, slashing .249/.332/.466 with 12 homers, 36 RBI and 37 runs scored across 250 plate appearances. However, his restricted role will likely keep him from being much of a factor during Los Angeles' final regular-season series and the postseason. Alex Freeland was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Rushing (elbow) is expected to be activated from the 10-day injured list Friday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Rushing will make his return to the major-league roster after missing nearly three weeks while nursing right elbow discomfort. The 25-year-old isn't fully past the elbow issue and will be limited to serving as a designated hitter or pinch hitter.

The Dodgers announced Wednesday that Rushing (elbow) is continuing to work his way through a hitting progression with the hope of returning from the 10-day injured list before the end of the season, MLB.com reports.
If Rushing ends up returning, he would be limited to serving as a designated hitter or pinch hitter off the bench since his injured right elbow hasn't been responding well to throwing. The 25-year-old has made tremendous strides as a hitter during his second big-league season, slashing .249/.332/.466 with 12 home runs in 250 plate appearances before landing on the shelf Sept. 6.

Rushing was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday, retroactive to Saturday, with right elbow discomfort.
Rushing did some throwing Saturday as part of a planned progression, and his elbow did not respond well. He underwent imaging Sunday, which showed aggravation in the area, manager Dave Roberts told Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. Rushing won't catch again this season, but the team is not ruling out a return as a bench bat. Eliezer Alfonzo was brought up in a corresponding move to bolster the Dodgers' catching depth.

Rushing is scheduled to undergo imaging on his injured right elbow Sunday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Rushing was a late scratch from Saturday's lineup versus Washington after experiencing right elbow discomfort during an on-field throwing session. The backstop has been limited to DH and pinch-hit duties since returning from the IL on Sept. 1, but now even his ability to hit is in question due to the setback. Manager Dave Roberts said after Saturday's win that regardless of the results of Sunday's tests, Rushing will pause his throwing progression.
