  • The Mets placed Scott on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with left knee inflammation.

Scott might have pitched through the injury if the Mets were still in playoff contention. However, it makes sense to go ahead and shut him down given that he's at 123.2 innings in 2026 between the majors and minors after not pitching at all in 2025 following Tommy John surgery. Scott flashed plenty of promise with the Mets this season, authoring a 3.85 ERA and 134:47 K:BB over 110 innings covering 23 starts.

  • Scott didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 10-3 win over the Phillies, giving up three runs on six hits and a walk over 4.2 innings. He struck out seven.

The right-hander ran out of gas in the fifth inning, getting lifted after 79 pitches (52 strikes) and then watching the Mets take the lead for good in the bottom of the frame, missing out on his fifth win of the year in the process. Scott continues to flash strong strikeout upside, and since the All-Star break he has a 69:21 K:BB in 56 innings, albeit with a 4.50 ERA and 1.25 WHIP. He'll wrap up his first full season in the majors with a road start next weekend against the Nationals.

  • Scott (4-5) took the loss Sunday against the Yankees, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out seven.

Scott made a few costly mistakes in an otherwise strong performance, serving up a pair of solo home runs Sunday. The quality start was the right-hander's first since Aug. 16 versus the Nationals and only his third of the year, though he's surrendered multiple runs in seven straight outings. He's set to take a respectable 3.76 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 127:46 K:BB over 105.1 innings into a tough home matchup versus the Phillies.

  • Scott didn't factor into the decision Sunday against the Giants, allowing two runs on four hits and no walks across 4.2 innings. He struck out seven.

It appears that the Mets will limit Scott's workload down the stretch -- he threw just 80 pitches Sunday before he was pulled with two outs in the fifth inning. Scott is up to 99.1 innings pitched this season, one year removed from Tommy John surgery. Overall, the right-hander is 4-4 with a 3.81 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 120:44 K:BB across 21 starts. Scott's currently in line to face the Yankees on the road his next time out.

  • Scott, who is slated to make his next start Sunday versus the Giants at Citi Field, will have his workload reduced over the final weeks of the season, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

Mets interim manager Andy Green indicated earlier this week that Scott wouldn't pitch again on four days' rest for the remainder of the season. The 27-year-old right-hander has already tossed a career-high 108.1 innings between Triple-A and the majors in his first season back from hybrid Tommy John surgery, and with the Mets out of playoff contention, they have no reason to push him. It's not yet clear if New York will shift to a six-man rotation to provide all its young starters with extra rest, if Scott will have his turn skipped at some point in September, or if the team has another solution in mind. Scott has given up at least three runs in six of his last seven starts, stumbling to a 5.40 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 41:18 K:BB in 35 innings over that stretch. He'll be returning to the hill Sunday on eight days' rest after making his previous start last Friday against the Astros.
