Latest news

  • Patrick is not on the Brewers' World Series roster.

He will cede his spot to Brandon Woodruff (shoulder), who has not pitched in a game in almost four months. Patrick was on the Brewers' roster for the NLDS and NLCS but did not appear in any games.

  • Patrick recorded his fifth save Thursday against the Pirates, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out one over a scoreless inning in a 5-2 win.

With Trevor Megill having worked each of the previous two days, Patrick was called upon to protect a three-run lead in the ninth inning. He worked around a walk and a single before inducing a game-ending double play to secure his fifth save of the season. Patrick has been dominant to begin August, allowing just two hits across five scoreless innings while piling up 10 strikeouts in four appearances. On the year, he owns a 3.38 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 78:32 K:BB across 85.1 innings.

  • Patrick picked up the save in Monday's 15-14 extra-innings win over the Athletics. He allowed no hits and an intentional walk while striking out two over a scoreless inning.

Patrick was called upon to pitch the 12th inning and was able to shut the door on Monday's offensive slugfest. It marked the right-hander's third save of the campaign, as he has been deployed in a variety of roles throughout the season and succeeded to the tune of a 3-2 record, 2.22 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 41:21 K:BB across 52.2 innings (17 appearances). Abner Uribe pitched the 11th inning and picked up the win, while Trevor Megill, who leads the club with eight saves, went unused despite not pitching since Friday.

  • Patrick struck out four over four shutout innings of relief in Wednesday's 1-0 loss to the Giants. He scattered three hits and two walks in the 49-pitch appearance.

After making a four-inning start versus the Cardinals on May 27, Patrick has since returned to the bullpen and ended up being used twice during the Brewers' three-game series versus the Giants. Patrick essentially piggybacked starter Robert Gasser in Wednesday's contest, entering the contest while the Brewers faced a one-run deficit and proceeding to cover the final four frames. Three spots in the Milwaukee rotation are in flux at the moment while Brandon Woodruff (shoulder), Logan Henderson (back) and Quinn Priester (shoulder) are all on the shelf, but the Brewers appear content to keep Patrick in a versatile relief role rather than recommitting to him as a full-time starter.

  • Patrick (3-2) was credited with the win in Monday's 16-2 victory over the Giants after striking out one batter in a perfect inning of relief.

Because starter Shane Drohan worked only four innings rather than five, Patrick ended up picking up the win for the Brewers, despite having already been staked to an 8-2 lead when he entered the game in the top of the fifth. Patrick had made a four-inning start for the Brewers in his previous appearance last Wednesday against the Cardinals, but the right-hander looks like he'll end up remaining part of the bullpen mix for now. Patrick tossed just 15 pitches Monday, so he should still be available to cover multiple innings (if needed) in either of the final two contests of the Brewers' series with the Giants on Wednesday and Thursday. Coleman Crow and Brandon Sproat are tentatively lined up to start those games, but neither pitcher has reached six innings in an appearance since mid-April.
