Latest news

  • Seymour threw a clean first inning Sunday against the Dodgers, striking out one. He didn't factor into the decision.

The Giants went with a bullpen game in the season finale, deploying 10 arms in total, and Seymour did his part as the opener. The right-hander yielded mixed results with San Francisco in 2026, so he could begin next season in the minor leagues for more seasoning. Through 31.2 big-league frames, he posted a 4.55 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 23:16 K:BB with eight holds plus one save (four chances).

  • Seymour is slated to start Sunday's game against the Dodgers in what's likely to be a bullpen day.

Seymour made nine starts at Triple-A Sacramento earlier in the season but has made all 24 of his appearances with the Giants to date out of the bullpen. He hasn't recorded more than five outs in any outing since Aug. 15, so the right-hander may be in line for just a 1-to-2-inning start in the season finale.

  • Seymour logged a blown save in Wednesday's 5-4 extra-inning win over the Pirates, allowing one run on two hits while striking out one in 1.2 innings.

Seymour entered the game in the seventh inning with two runners on base and one out. The right-hander managed to get through the eighth frame, though he gave up a double and a single as Pittsburgh tied the game at 3-3. Despite Wednesday's stumble, the 27-year-old has fared well over his last 10 outings, posting a 1.38 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 13:3 K:BB across 13 innings during that time.

  • Seymour allowed one run on one hit and struck out one without walking a batter over one inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Reds.

Seymour was called on for the save chance after Dylan Smith logged 25 pitches Monday. The Giants have seen starters go down with injuries in consecutive games, as well as losing reliever JT Brubaker (ribs) to the injured list Monday, so it's been hard times for the team's healthy relievers. Seymour has a 5.19 ERA and 14:7 K:BB across 17.1 innings this season while also collecting two holds. He's done most of his work as a multi-inning option -- he's been able to get more than three outs in seven of his 10 appearances so far, which makes it unlikely that he'll be a consistent presence in the late innings.

  • Seymour allowed one hit while striking out two in one scoreless inning during Thursday's 5-2 loss to Cleveland.

Seymour collected his third straight scoreless outing Thursday, throwing 11 of his 14 pitches for strikes. Across seven appearances with the Giants this season, the 27-year-old owns a 5.79 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 11:6 K:BB in 14 innings.

  • Seymour was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Monday.

Seymour has experience working as a starter, but lately he has been working out of the Triple-A bullpen, logging a 3.94 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 18 strikeouts in 16 innings over eight appearances. He could eventually work in high-leverage situations after Erik Miller and Caleb Kilian were dealt at the deadline.
