  • The Red Sox announced Thursday that Durbin (finger) underwent a successful partial excision of the fifth metatarsal base with tendon repair on his right foot, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

It's the second surgery that Durbin has undergone in the last three weeks -- this time to address a toe injury that he'd picked up on his foot. He'll have an entire offseason to recover from the procedures, giving him a strong chance to be fully healthy by the time spring training begins.

  • The Red Sox announced Sunday that Durbin underwent successful reconstructive surgery of the PIP joint in his left pinkie finger last week, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.

The 26-year-old dealt with a dislocated pinkie over the summer, but he played through the injury and never went on the injured list. Durbin struggled early in 2026 but bounced back with a .738 OPS during the second half, resulting in a .248/.332/.378 slash line with 13 homers and 20 steals in 153 regular-season games. He'll likely be fully healthy for the start of spring training since he has three-plus months to recover from the procedure.

  • Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow said Monday that Durbin has appointments scheduled to have his left pinkie examined, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Durbin suffered a partially dislocated left pinkie back in late June, but he never missed any games and played through some discomfort for the remainder of the season. Now that the Red Sox have been eliminated, Durbin will have the finger looked at before determining whether anything needs to be done beyond rest. Durbin slashed .272/.377/.391 in 82 regular-season games after the injury, so it does not seem the lingering finger injury overly affected him at the plate.

  • Durbin is not in the Red Sox's starting lineup against the Orioles on Saturday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Durbin will have a rare day off while Nick Sogard starts at the hot corner and Isiah Kiner-Falefa fills in at second base. Durbin has had his ups and downs at the plate this season and has gone 2-for-22 with one steal and a 3:7 BB:K over his last seven outings.
